Well hello hello! It has been a very long time since I've had a minute to sit down and write something that isn't for work or grad school. It feels good to be "back," even if it is only once in a blue moon. Today I am linking up for What's Up Wednesday, and I feel like I have so much to update you on!
Before we begin, I have to show you Liam's school pictures. They came in last night and we are dying over the cuteness! They are grainy because they are still the proofs, but my heart has melted into a puddle.
If only we could keep them this young forever!!
What We're Eating This Week: We are eating our same usual stuff: fajitas, salmon and veggies, occasional takeout. I do want to share some of our healthy snacks we have been packing in our lunchboxes though! At this point in the year, we are sick of packing lunches. We are just grabbing a Greek yogurt, string cheese, and some other healthy snacks to throw in the lunchboxes. Here's what we are snacking on these days:
What I'm Reminiscing About: I cannot believe how different my life is right now from where we were one year ago today.
If one year ago you had told me this is where we’d be, I would’ve sobbed happy tears. I am healthy. Able to keep up with and enjoy all the activities with my babies. Back working at my “home away from home.” Living my “same” life, but better. Sometimes I look back on the past year and it truly feels like someone else’s life. That person in those pictures above is unrecognizable to me. Not physically, but internally. I hate that sometimes it takes something so awful to make you realize how truly precious life is and what really matters.
What I'm Loving: SPRING. IS. HERE!!!! Spring is my favorite season by a landslide. The temperatures are warming up, but not too hot yet. The school year is coming to an end (we are in the 4th quarter now—woohoo!). And most importantly, the mosquitoes aren’t out yet.
What We've Been Up To: Oh my goodness, we have been BUSY. I am working my way through my grad school program, which has been fascinating! It is a Special Education program and I have learned what feels like 2 years worth of information crammed into the past 6 months. Has it been overwhelming at times? Absolutely. But am I loving it? Also, absolutely. I’m not sure why we have mini-semesters, but they are cramming (in my opinion) a full semester’s worth of work into these mini-semesters. I don’t know what the rush is. The program is only a year long, but I think I’d prefer another 6 months just so the workload is spaced out more and I can really digest it before we move onto the next topic. My classes are all online (quite a learning curve!) and I do them from my desk at home. I opened up my desk one day to find this note attached.
Haha!! Clearly LG is ready for me to be done with my grad program.
Devin has been traveling like crazy again. He was in Ireland for a week, Australia for another week, and some other quick trips peppered in between.
So basically life has been busy, but good.
What I'm Working On: Homework, homework, and more homework. Gross.
What I'm Excited About: I was initially bummed that our spring break plans fell apart. We were supposed to go to Florida, but there was a problem with the place we booked and when we tried to find somewhere else on the island, everything was full . We ended up not pivoting and going elsewhere because we realized that after neglecting our yard last year during my diagnosis, we have a LOT of catching up to do on yardwork. We are going to spend a few days in SC just for a “break”, but then we are planning to come home, buckle down, and get a lot done. I see a lot of power washing in my future and I am a-okay with that. It’ll feel good to have it checked off the list!
What I'm Watching/Reading: I’m always the last one to know about good shows to watch, but “Lover, Stalker, Killer” on Netflix was INSANE! It was like Gone Girl level of crazy, except it was real life. I kept saying to Devin, “I can’t believe this really happened!!!”
We also recently watched Beckham, and loved it!
I need to do a book post because I have read several great books lately, including The Room on Rue Amelie.
What I'm Listening To: Hallow’s Pray 40. If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you know I am Catholic and my faith is a big part of my life. I have used the Hallow app off and on for years now, and when I saw they were doing a series called “Pray 40” for Lent, I wanted to give it a shot. Starting my morning with a cup of coffee and Pray 40 has been a wonderful way to start the day during Lent. I will most definitely do it again next year!
What I'm Wearing:
Red Dress/Boots (on super sale!)
White Tee/Pink Maxi Skirt (old, but similar here)/White Sneakers
What I'm Doing This Weekend: It’s Easter weekend! We have plans to go to Mass with family, do an Easter egg hunt, and then spend the rest of the day together with my parents and sister.
Best Recent Amazon Purchase: The kids each have one of these coming in their Easter baskets this weekend. They have both been really into taking pictures on my phone lately, which is cute but it takes up all my storage!
Thanks for following along! I can't wait to read what you've been up to too!
Welcome back! I was thrilled to see your post in the link up this morning. I’m glad you are feeling so good! As a fellow teacher, I agree that grad school is rough. Especially online shortened classes. I can’t wait to see what else you’ve been reading. Have a relaxing spring break! It will feel good to look out into your yard and see it as you like it. Happy Easter!

So good to see you! I love your cute hair! It makes my heart happy to see you healthy, happy, albeit busy!
ReplyDeleteYou are looking and sounding great!
ReplyDeleteI was so glad to see you linked up today! You are looking fabulous and sounding quite busy. My son's college has a few classes that are offered during a shortened semester and they really do cram in a whole lot of work in 1/2 the time!
ReplyDeleteYou look great - so happy to hear all about your busy and beautiful life! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. You look great, I love the curls you are getting. Liam is such a cutie. Maybe a week at home is just what you need instead of being on the go. It is a sign. Our basketball hoop fell in our driveway (thankfully didn't break) and I couldn't get out of the garage, I took it as a sign to have a lazy day at home.
ReplyDeleteI always check in here, almost automatically, and was pleased to see a new post! Glad to hear you are feeling well. I love your dresses. Beckham! Loved it :P
