Friday Favorites-- Skin Care Edition

Good Morning! Today I am linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites. Today's is all about my skincare regimen and my favorite skincare products.

Okay first let me start by saying the most important thing I do to take care of my skin is make an annual dermatologist visit to have my skin checked. Unfortunately in high school/college/shortly after college I spent way too much time in tanning beds. I've written about it before here, but after my several years using tanning beds, I eventually had a mole come back as "severely abnormal" in 2014. Fast forward to fall of 2018 and I had another "severely abnormal" mole. As my dermatologist put it, "this isn't cancer, but it is cancer's next door neighbor." Yikes. I'm honestly hoping that none of my readers out there were as foolish as I was, but something tells me I'm not the only one in this boat.

So other than making my annual skin check appointments, I now put a sunscreen on my face/neck every single day. My makeup usually has at least an SPF 15 depending on which makeup I wear that day, but I like a little more protection than that so I use this Clinique City Block Sheer which is an SPF 25. The price on Amazon is actually about $5 cheaper than our department stores here and Ulta, which I was surprised by.
So, those are the two most important things I do, but let's get to the rest of the skincare routine, shall we? Starting in the morning, I always wash my face in the shower with some kind of face wash scrub to exfoliate.
I like just your basic Clean and Clear Morning Burst Scrub that you can buy at Wal-Mart/Target, but I will occasionally use something new if I get a face scrub in my Ipsy bag for the month.
After washing my face I put a tiny dab of coconut oil on the dryer areas of my face (usually my forehead) and let that soak in for a bit while I brush/dry my hair. After drying my hair, I put on my Caudalie eye lifting balm and Oil of Olay Miscrosculpting Cream. This microsculpting cream is relatively new to me-- I've only been using it for a few months but have noticed a signifiant change in my skin! After putting these on, I put on my Clinique City Block Sheer sunscreen all over my face/neck and then apply my makeup. This actually works as a great primer as well so I definitely make sure I never miss it.

At night, I rinse my makeup off with just water and take my eye makeup off using just your basic drug store makeup remover. A few times a week I will do a face mask. If I have a face mask from my monthly Ipsy bag I will try that, otherwise I make my egg white mask that I love so much.

After the face mask, I put this Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum on my forehead (where most of my wrinkles are) and the Oil of Olay Microsculpting cream everywhere else on my face. After the Estee Lauder Night Serum soaks in, I put another dab of coconut oil on my forehead and rub it in. It'll soak in overnight.
I have noticed a very big difference using the night serum and coconut oil. My sister first told me about putting coconut oil on wrinkles a few months ago and I thought she was crazy. I knew my skin would break out for sure. But I also knew it was a super inexpensive product and if it could actually make a difference, it was worth at least trying it. I'm so happy I gave it a shot because now I use it twice daily.

Other than that here are some other products I love to put on my skin:
Tan Towel Wipes/Jergen's Natural Glow Face Lotion/Jergen's Natural Glow Body Lotion/Jergen's Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer

I use these tanning wipes roughly once a week/every other week. They come in half size for during the winter when nobody sees your legs/stomach and then full size for the summer. I love that they definitely give you a glow but they are more subtle than some other wipes I've used. If you check out the reviews on Amazon there are some great before/after pictures.

In between using the wipes I will use the lotions to fill in when the tan starts to fade. I have been using these products for years (minus the wet skin moisturizer-- that's new to me) and I absolutely love them.

Thanks for reading along today. I hope you all have a great weekend!

What I've Been Wearing Lately

Happy first day of spring!! Spring is my favorite season. I love when the weather starts to warm up, the flowers and trees begin blooming and it feels like the world starts to "wake up" a little. We try to spend as much time outside as possible and I can't get enough of it!

Anyway, today I figured I'd share what I've been wearing lately because it seems like you all are as obsessed with checking out other people's outfits as I am :)

I wore this fun jumpsuit for a date night. Being tall I can NEVER find a jumpsuit that fits properly. I have a long torso and am never comfortable in one, but this one was perfect. The only caveat is it is definitely not work appropriate because of the low plunge in the front. But perfect for a date night!
Jumpsuit/Heels/Clutch
The rest of these were all work outfits over the past few weeks:
 Dress (old but similar here)/Leggings/Boots
Dress/Denim Jacket/Sandals

See you on Friday for Friday Favorites!

Pregnancy Week 14

Today I am doing a quick pregnancy update. When I was pregnant with Lily Grace I kept a pregnancy journal where I wrote down how I was feeling/what we were doing to prepare but figured it would be much more fun to do an online journal this time around! Maybe another pregnant mama out there will want to read along, or some mama's who want to reminisce about being pregnant 😉.

Friday Favorites-- Book Edition

Good Morning! Today I am linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites and since many of my friends out there are getting ready for Spring Break, I figured it would be a good idea to post some of the books I've been reading over the past year. If you have a flight in your future, or some down time on the beach, maybe you'll pick up one of these books before you go!

I try to read about 3-4 books every month and review them in my monthly "Book Club" posts. If you're interested in any of the following books, click the link for each month and you can read my thoughts on them:

The Story of My Blog Part 1

Today's post is all about how and why I started blogging. This little hobby of mine has turned into something I love much more than I expected, and now I'm kicking myself for not starting it sooner. Have any of you out there thought about starting your own blog but are hesitant? JUST DO IT! You won't regret it, I promise.

10 Things I Say on Repeat... All Day, Every Day

Today I am linking up with The Bolin Bunch for 10 on the 10th.
Today's topic is "10 Things I Say On Repeat... All Day, Every Day". I think this is such a funny theme for a link up and can't wait to read other bloggers responses! I decided to split mine into categories:

Book Club-- February

Hi friends! Today is my monthly book review and apparently this month I was really in the mood for memoirs because all 3 of the books I read were memoirs. Of the 3 I read, I only really loved one of them. Let's get started...

What I'm Priming

Hi there! Before we get started today I wanted to remind you that I am doing a giveaway of a $25 Amazon gift card. All you need to do is click HERE and follow me on BlogLovin and Instagram to enter. The winner will be announced Friday. Good luck!!
Amazon.com gift card design

Today I am sharing a recent glimpse at what I've been Priming AND a few things Devin has been Priming. Do any of you have a separate Prime from your spouse? I'm not talking a whole second account with a whole second fee, that would be crazy, but your own login/the ability to hide from your spouse what you bought (this is a life saver friends, truly!). Devin initially set it up for us a few Christmases ago so I didn't accidentally stumble across any presents that were supposed to be surprises. Now, as the majority Prime purchaser in the house, I am quite happy to say he can't see my many purchases. 😉 For the sake of today's post though, I asked him to let me peruse through his purchases and share. Ladies, I'm not going to lie, I laughed out loud at the ridiculous things he bought. I'm a little too embarrassed to even share all of them. Also, he bought like 5 things over the past 6 months. Uh huh, me too... 😳

First, what I've been Priming this month:
purlisse Perfect Glow BB Cream SPF 30 - BB Cream for All Skin Types - Smooths Skin Texture, Evens Skin Tone - Light, 1.4 Ounce

What's Up Wednesday

Happy What's Up Wednesday everyone! I cannot believe it is already the end of another month. Is it me or did this month fly by?? I'm okay with it though because it means we are one month closer to warmer weather and longer hours of daylight. Bring it on!

Monthly Goals-- March

Before we start today I wanted to let you know I created a new Instagram account specifically to tie in with the blog. I felt a little uncomfortable having all of our personal information/pictures out there on the internet for the whole world to see through my personal account, but also still wanted to be able to share some of that stuff with close family and friends. So the new public account will be AllAboutThatMommyLifeBlog. If you want to follow along, please do! And leave me your info at the bottom, I'd love to follow you too. Today I will try to do A Day in the Life Every Hour post on my stories if you want to follow along.
Anyone else ready for spring to be here already?? Bring on the warm weather!

My Quiet Time

Today I wanted to share with you how I do my daily "quiet time". What is "quiet time" exactly? "Quiet time" is a common way people refer to their quiet time in prayer/Bible reading/reflection on the Bible.
You're My Place Of Retreat
I was raised in a family that strongly believed in the power of prayer, and was raised to pray multiple times throughout the day. For our family though, the big time we always spent in prayer together was at night before bed.

My Weekly Beauty Routine

Happy Monday friends! Today I wanted to talk to you a little bit about my weekly beauty routine and more importantly, get ideas from you! I have noticed that if I set aside a little chunk of time one day a week for self care, I can knock most of this stuff out of the way all at the same time, and then I am more likely to keep up with it. But I'm wondering when you all find the time to do this stuff. Do you knock it all out at the same time like I do? Or do you do a little bit at a time throughout the week? Here are the things I usually include in my routine:
Crest 3D White Glamorous White Whitestrips - 28 strips (Packaging may vary)

Friday Favorites-- Stress Reliever Edition

Happy Friday! Today I am linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites, only this time I am writing about something that I have been REALLY putting into practice these past two weeks: stress relievers!

We recently found out we were moving and are in the process of buying our new house/selling our old house. It all pretty much went down in less than a week and now we are crossing our fingers and hoping our current house sells.

5 Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Movies to Watch on a Cold, Rainy Day

Happy Wednesday friends! We were so lucky in Charlotte to have gotten some of the most BEAUTIFUL weather last week. I mean we are talking upper 70's and sunshine with no humidity. Gorgeous. But it looks as though our little warm spell was a temporary tease of spring because for the past few days it has been in the 40's and rainy. Yuck. We have had several of those days where you don't want to change out of your sweatpants and leave the couch all day. Some of those "let's watch a movie and eat junk food" kind of days.

Here are some of the things we have been watching on Netflix/Hulu/Amazon lately. If you're watching anything good, leave me a comment below so I can check it out!

My Trader Joe's Favorites

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a great weekend 😀 I don't know about you but I keep seeing grocery store hauls all over the blogs I read and I am LOVING it! I keep getting great new recommendations for things to try from my favorite stores. Since I am a regular Trader Joe's shopper, I figured I would give you my list of favorites. Maybe there is something you will try next time you go.  Here are the things I usually get:

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends! This was one exciting but LONG week, so to say we are ready for the weekend is an understatement. Today I am linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites. Let's get started.

My first favorite has to be this cozy twist top from Nordstrom's Gibson line that I cannot take off. Do you ever buy a new shirt/outfit and you're so excited about it that you wear it over and over again? That's this shirt for me. It is so dang cozy it feels like I'm wearing a t-shirt, but instead I'm wearing a cute cozy sweater.

What's Up Wednesday

Today I am linking up with Shay for What's Up Wednesday. Let's get started!

What We're Eating This Week: We are still trying our best to follow the Mediterranean diet as much as possible. We have been adding a lot more fish and veggies to our diet. We have been buying our veggies at Costco because we have been going through so many of them. Do any of ya'll have Costco memberships?? I LOVE ours! It is amazing how much food you can get and how inexpensively. What are your favorite Costco finds? Tell me below in the comments!
What I'm Reminiscing About: I have a bunch of close girlfriends who are either currently pregnant or just had their baby, so I have been reminiscing a lot lately about being pregnant with Lily Grace 2 years ago. It is amazing to think there was once a time when we didn't know this baby girl who lights up our world 😍. I was 25 weeks pregnant here and was LOVING my bump!

Weekend Highlights

Happy Monday friends! It was pretty much your typical, run of the mill weekend around here but I have to say, it was much needed! Devin had been out of the country for a week and a half so we were excited to have him back and get to spend some quality family time together.

On Friday afternoon our church was having a little Polish festival. My parents had planned on going and were also going to be our babysitters later that night, so we all walked over together for a few hours of fun. My parents ate some pierogis, kielbasa, sauerkraut, and other delicious foods while we all watched Lily Grace dance to the Polish music the band was playing. This girl loves to dance!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Today I'm linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites.

Has EVERYONE been watching the Marie Kondo show on Netflix or is it just me?? It is making me go through our house purging things like crazy and either selling them on Facebook or donating them. I did not realize how much stuff we had until I started going through it... and yikes. But the silver lining is I've made over $100 selling some of our "junk", woohoo! #MoreMoneyForClothes #DoesThatDefeatThePurpose? #Maybe

Mediterranean Diet: Salmon Cakes and Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Last week I shared with you that we were going to start implementing the Mediterranean Diet in our house. So far we are finding this to be really easy and have enjoyed trying out some new recipes. Devin has been making a less healthy version of these salmon cakes for years, so I asked him to try to find a more "Mediterranean Diet" type way of making them. Luckily he was up to the challenge and the only effort I had to put into this was making the brussel sprouts and being the official taste tester.  #mykindofmeal

Friday Favorites: Funny Mom Memes

Funny Mom Memes
Today's post of funny mom memes is inspired by a group of women who I could not live without: my mom friends, otherwise known as "The Mama Llamas". Every mom needs that group of girlfriends who understands why you might show up to the girl's night with poop on your clothes and not judge you for it. Every mom needs that group of women who you can text at an ungodly hour that your toddler has a rash and should you call the pediatrician?! They'll calmly (and immediately, because God knows they're up too) remind you that their child had the same thing a few months ago and it'll all be okay. And most importantly, every mom needs that group of women who can help you to see the humor in the many stressful situations that come from being a mom. Motherhood is without a doubt the biggest blessing in my life, but that doesn't mean that every single second of it is sunshine and rainbows.

And So We Begin... The Mediterranean Diet

Good Morning! Today I am talking about something our family is going to be trying to implement more of in 2019... the Mediterranean Diet.
How (and Why) to Eat a Mediterranean Diet for Health & Weight Loss | via @SparkPeople
Let's be real.. they had me at one glass of wine daily 😉

I'm sure you've all heard about the various fad diets going around right now (if not, this article was fascinating) and maybe you've stumbled across the Mediterranean Diet as one of them, but I have a feeling this one is here to stay. I first read a little bit about this after Bali when I was reading the National Geographic special magazine about Blue Zones (areas of the world where people regularly live to be over 100 years old).
The magazine showed a fascinating look into several people's lives and what these people were doing that helped them to live such long and healthy lives. For some of these people, particularly the ones who lived near the Mediterranean, it talked a lot about what foods these people were eating and how the foods helped them to live a healthier lifestyle.

Now obviously we are not going 100% all in here... we are still going to stop at Chick-fil-A once in awhile and if I don't have Mexican food every now and again I may lose my mind. The point is that maybe instead of pizza for dinner on Fridays we make a salad with cucumbers and Feta cheese. Maybe instead of cheeseburgers on the grill in May, we grill some salmon and vegetables. Maybe instead of dumping 4+ tablespoons of CoffeeMate into my coffee, I start weaning myself off of it and eventually go to black. I have read several articles/books on this and feel like I enough information and still feel comfortable with trying something new. This is not always the case, we did a LOT of research on keto after watching the documentary on Netflix and realized it wasn't for us.

So stay tuned for some super easy Mediterranean Diet recipes on the blog. I'm going to see what I can find out there and find a way to make these as easy as possible for busy working mamas. If there was a "Mediterranean Diet in the Crock Pot" cookbook out there you'd better believe I'd have that one already Amazon Primed.
