Couples Enneagram Test and the Five Love Languages

Good morning friends and happy Friday! Today I wanted to share with you something that Devin and I did recently that helped us to understand the other one a little bit better: Enneagram tests and the 5 Love Languages Quiz. These are nothing new, and have been all over the internet for several years now, but we had never taken both quizzes and discussed our results/how we show our love for each other before. It was fascinating to see how our personality types affected our interactions with each other, and how we both show and receive love in different ways.
We started by each taking this free Enneagram quiz from Truity. I know there are a bunch of Enneagram quizzes out there, but we wanted one that was relatively quick and free if possible. Truity checked both of those boxes, so we gave it a whirl. Here are Devin's results:
And here are mine:

As you can see, we are both VERY similar! While we already knew this about each other, it was good to see it written out in front of us with a deeper analysis of our personalities. We know that we are both achievers and that sometimes we can unintentionally get in each other's way while trying to do our own thing.

I then went to the Enneagram Institute's Website and went to their Enneagrams in relationships section. You put in which type you and your significant other are and then it tells you how your personality types can work together in a relationship, or possible problems between the two personality types. It was fascinating!

After looking at an analyzing our Enneagram results, I also wanted us to take the 5 Love Languages quiz. We took this years ago, but I wanted to see if anything had changed or if we still showed and received love in the same way as we had years before. It turns out I'm pretty much still the same as I was years ago, I love some good, uninterrupted Quality Time with Dev 😊.
Devin is pretty much still the same too, with his biggest love language being physical touch. Looks like I have more snuggles on the couch in my future... I won't fight it!
I love getting to see my spouse in a different way and understanding what makes him "tick". I'm sure you all feel the same way!

There are also Love Language quizzes for helping to understand your kids which I think is a wonderful resource for parents who may be trying to navigate the difficult teenage years and want to understand how to better show love for their child.

Thanks for reading along today! I'd love to know if you and your partner have ever taken Enneagram or Love Languages tests and if it helped you to understand them better. Please leave me a comment below!

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. Have a great weekend!

  1. Ryan and I did one of these tests a while back, and we found that we're quite similar, as well! His love language is definitely physical touch, while mine has always been words of affirmation. Kind of cool to read into!

    1. It is interesting to read into! Even though we think we already know them pretty well, it's nice to have that confirmed :)

  2. We have never done the enneagram quiz but this winter we did the five love languages. It was so eye opening for both of us. We inherently knew each other’s but it was like a light bulb. Duh!! Lol. Hope you had a great weekend!
