Today's post is a snapshot of our week. It was a busy one, but a great one!
#1 The Weather!!
We have been spending hours and hours each day playing outside and getting our garden ready. It has been a dream.
It's even been warm enough and bright enough to play outside before school starts. The best way to start the day in my opinion!
Which leads me to my next point, we have been eating outside a lot this week too! I love eating outside as a family and then letting the kids go play when they're done. Spring is my favorite season by a landslide, and this is one of the many reasons why!
#2 Mardi Gras
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned it on this blog before, but my family really loves to celebrate Mardi Gras. We go all out with the food, the crafts, we even make our own floats and do a parade down the hallway. We had the BEST time this week celebrating one of our favorite days.
The theme for Lily Grace's float was pink.
Liam's float was all about Jeeps. As you can see, we make their floats out of old shoeboxes and construction paper, then jazz them up a bit.
We all made masks, including my parents.
We ate jambalaya, gumbo, and okra. We had our parade, and my parents gave the kids beads.
Lily Grace admiring her beads. Yes, she's wearing her Tiana dress. What else do you wear to a Mardi Gras party? 😊
Then we finished the night by watching bits and pieces of The Princess and the Frog. It was a great night!
#3 Favorite Foods:
I saw these multicolored cauliflower at Trader Joe's and grabbed them for the kids. I made them our favorite way in the air fryer and told the kids to eat at least one of each color to see which color was the tastiest (I knew darn well they'd all taste the same, but anything I can do to get them to eat more veggies, right? 😉) It turns out the purple ones turn blue when you cook them-- so that was fun for the kids too! According to LG the purple ones taste the best, while Liam says the yellow ones taste the best. According to Devin and I, they all taste exactly the same. 😊
If you like spicy foods, I highly recommend these from Trader Joe's too:
They are the perfect mix of sweet and spicy! Liam likes spicy foods and he really liked these too. We ate way too many of these. 😊
We originally had plans to go skiing this weekend but it is supposed to be a high of 67 on the day we bought our tickets... so we are hoping the ski resort cancels the ski lessons and we get our money back. Surely they can't expect kids to be learning to ski in slush, right? If we don't end up going skiing, our plans are to get some things started in our garden. Either way, I think we are up for a weekend of fun.
Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. Have a nice weekend!
I love how you go all out for Mardi Gras! We had pancakes for supper but that was about it here. My mom made a King Cake though :)
ReplyDeleteI love eating our meals outside too.
