Not Just a Mom: Loving Lately

Good morning friends! I hope you had a nice weekend. We had a busy, but wonderful weekend. Starting with a birthday dinner with some of my favorite people ever:

Kathleen's birthday was Sunday so we had a triple date to celebrate our sweet friend. It was WONDERFUL! On Sunday we had a birthday party and then LG and I headed to the Nutcracker.

I'll be honest, I am not a Nutcracker fan. At one point I almost fell asleep. 😆 Our sweet little girl on the other hand knows every single song and has memorized some of the dances too. She LOVES the Nutcracker. I'm happy to go sleep in the theater with her year after year so she can enjoy her favorite show haha.

What about you? Are you a Nutcracker fan? I mean... there is not a single word spoken. Not one. But apparently it can keep some people's attention-- just not mine!

Today the Not Just a Mom crew are linking up for our final post of 2022, but don't worry because we will be back in 2023!! See the bottom of this post for our monthly themes coming in 2023. For today however, we are sharing things we are loving lately. Fair warning, this is a SUPER random assortment of things. It's a little bit beauty, a new favorite app, a home appliance, and more! Let's get to it:

The Chestnut Praline Latte at Starbucks-- YUM!!! If you like your coffee to taste like dessert, this one is for you! It's a smooth milky flavor but with a hint of holiday spices and a nutty flavor. I have had way too many in the past few weeks-- oops!

The Calm App-- My mom and mother in law have both been telling me about this app for years-- they are both big fans. I finally got around to trying it and now I am hooked too. Do you ever feel like you are exhausted but the second you lay down at night the never-ending to-do list starts running through your head? Luckily it doesn't happen to me too often, but this time of year it certainly does. I was telling my mom about it and she suggested I try the Calm app before bed. My mom and I listen to the guided meditations, while my mother-in-law prefers the sleep stories. They do a free 7 day trial if you want to check it out.

Speaking of calm... Lily Grace and I have been spending our mornings watching snowy cabin ambience-type videos on Youtube and it has been a very peaceful way to start the day...

Calmed by Nature-- This one plays soft Christmas jazz music. Perfect for background listening.

Snowy Cabin Ambience-- This one sounds like a blizzard outside your window and you can hear the fire crackling. I love listening to this one while I read my Advent Bible study in the morning.

Disney Main Street USA Christmas-- This one is Lily Grace's favorite-- for obvious reasons!

Walgreens Photo Calendars-- Every year we make photo calendars for my parents and Devin's parents as one of their Christmas gifts. They love them! We made the newest versions last week and they were ready to pickup within 24 hours. The calendars are BOGO this week if you think you'd like to make some too!

Isle of Paradise Drops-- Now that it is winter and I'm not using the St. Tropez sunless tanner on my whole body, I am back to using these drops for my face/neck.

Lumineux White Strips-- I am probably the last of you to try these white strips, but they really are wonderful!

Thank you to all of you who read along with Adrienne, Dara, Jen, Joanne, Sarah and I this year. Blogging is much more fun when people like you read our blogs and interact with them. Keep coming back the second Monday of every month in 2023! Here are the topics we will be covering:

  1. I remember the Nutcracker movie made me fall asleep. I haven't seen the actual ballet but my daughter dances in a Jewish version of the Nutcracker that is a lot of fun!

  2. I love the Nutcracker, mainly because it is such a special tradition for Grace and me. I can see how it could be sleep inducing though! My husband loves the Calm app. He actually gets a free subscription through the wellness program at his company. That's a work perk worth having! Have a good week!

  3. i love the nutcracker, but Ella doesn't like it. I am hoping that Anna likes it so I can start taking her next year.
that is my current favorite Starbucks drink too.
Brian turns on different fireplace videos with instrumental music every morning too. It makes a huge difference in my kids moods compared to having the tv on.

  5. Such a fun post! I've seen the Nutcracker a few times...once as a kid, once with girl friends, and I took Hadley when she was about five. Anyway, it always seems like a good idea at the time, but I know what you mean...not a single word spoken. lol We give calendars every year too. Such a perfect gift for family. I'll have to try that coffee. sounds delish.

  6. I do not like the Nutcracker. We went the first year we lived in Toronto and I thought it would be a fun tradition, I think I almost fell asleep too and realized that tradition was not to be. I'm glad LG likes it though! I like a good holiday drink from Starbucks too. I got the peppermint mocha the other day.
