Hi friends and happy Monday! On Saturday our sweet boy turned 4 years old, and I won’t lie, I’m having a LOT of emotions about it.
Here’s a little bit more about our sweet 4 year old at the moment:
- Liam has such a sunny disposition. He is always smiling and eager to do whatever activity we are going to do. My mom lovingly refers to him as "the jolly red giant," and jolly fits his temperament perfectly. He's also taller than most of LG's first grade class, so giant fits him pretty well too, haha!
Liam is a terrible sleeper. He always has been.
I remember sleep training Lily Grace and it working like a charm. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old... then there was Liam. Liam still doesn't sleep through the night and he is 4. Ugh. He will wake up in the middle of the night and either go to the guest bedroom or the couch. I can't tell you how many mornings I've gone out to make my coffee and found this:
We tried dropping his nap. Didn't make a difference. We thought it may be that his bed/mattress were uncomfortable so we bought him a new bed and mattress... nope. Still goes on midnight adventures around the house. Maybe this will be the year he starts sleeping through the night?
- Liam’s Favorite Foods: This boy loves mac & cheese and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. If given the option, I think he would only eat these two things every single day for the rest of his life. He used to be a great eater, but he has definitely gotten pickier as he gets older. Luckily he still loves fruits and vegetables, it's the main course of a meal that he is picky about.
- Liam’s Favorite Toys: He loves to play with matchbox cars and trucks.
He is great at playing independently and will play with his cars for a solid hour by himself. He really is such an easy kid (other than sleeping)!!
- Favorite Activities: Liam loves riding his scooter and going to the Whitewater Center to watch the zip liners. He is not as much into doing the activities, he prefers to be the spectator. He is starting to get into sports and seems to really like football. He loves helping Devin do yard work— it’s so cute!
He also loves to play “daddy and his children” which I think is adorable. I knew little girls play “mommy” with their baby dolls, but I didn’t know little boys played “daddy” and it’s precious to see (Liam’s “children” are his matchbox cars incase you’re wondering 😂). It says a lot about Devin as a dad that Liam wants to play “daddy”.
- What He Wants To Be When He Grows Up: “a guy that drives construction trucks”
- Favorite Show: Pupstruction on Disney+
- Favorite Place: Home! Liam is such a homebody, and if given the choice, would stay home all day every day. Once you convince him to leave the house, he loves whatever activity he’s at, but getting him to leave can be tricky!
Thank you for reading along today! See you back here Friday for an update on my cancer/chemo recovery/
I love this post. So fun to learn about other children's habits-both good and bad. I think I have been following you since he was a baby so I can't believe he is 4! Also, I think it is great that he doesn't climb into your bed at night...but I am one of those who really likes my space in my bed.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Liam
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little write up about your little boy. My youngest is turning 7 next week!!! And as I was putting him to bed I said to him "you used to be a little tiny baby that fit in my arms and now you're such a big boy". *pout* They get big so fast, but that's okay.
ReplyDeleteAww I LOVE that he likes playing "family" and "dad"! That's all my girl EVER wants to do lol!! We have a sweet neighbor boy who always plays with the girls and is often the "brother" or "toddler" lol! HBD Liam (I hope this is his year for sleep LOL!!!!)
