Weekend Highlights

Good morning friends! I hope you had a nice weekend. Ours was a perfect mix of busy and relaxing. It was exactly what we needed.

Friday:
My school (and LG's) had a half day so the teachers could have a workday in the afternoon. It was eerily quiet without the kids there, but I was not complaining-- I got a LOT done!!
When I got home, I checked the skeletons.
The neighbors had set up a "rock n roll" theme-- I thought they did well! Having the neighbors participate has been so much fun. I think we will continue to do it this way every year. We've had 15 neighbors sign up to help!
I came inside to see Devin and the kids had lit a fire in the fireplace and were reading books by the fire. The amount of joy our wood-burning fireplace gives me makes up for the amount of work a wood-burning fireplace is tenfold. I love the smell and hearing the crackle of the wood. I changed into comfier clothes and swooped in for some reading and snuggles while Devin left to go pick up a pizza for dinner.
We spent the evening watching The Nightmare Before Christmas and then put the kids to bed in Liam's room. Liam has bunk beds and we let them sleep together on Friday nights, They stay up late playing and talking which is why we only let them do it on Fridays-- we don't need tired/cranky kids around here!

After the kids were in bed, we opened up a bottle of wine and hung out by the fire while I cut out laminating.
I am one of Lily Grace's room moms this year and offered to help her teacher with extra stuff like this if her assistant is ever unable to get to it. Like most teachers, I love cutting out laminating... so while this is helping her teacher, it's an activity I genuinely enjoy!

Saturday:
On Saturday morning we woke up, set up our skeletons...
and then we went to our favorite farm for pumpkins and some fall fun. It was the most beautiful fall morning-- temps in the 60's and not a cloud in the sky.
LG wanted us to be “matching girls” so she picked out coordinating outfits for us.
I know too soon mom will embarrassing, so I am trying to soak up all the sweet moments like this while I can. If Lily Grace wants us to match, I am more than happy to do so!
We spent over four hours at the farm doing all the fun activities.
They have a bunch of playground equipment, a little train for the kids to rids (pictured above-- the blue thing), farm animals the kids can feed, a hay ride, and a giant pit of dried corn the kids can play in (see below where we buried LG in the pit).
Our whole family has so much fun here every year. It is one of our favorite days of the whole year!

After the farm we went home and relaxed for the rest of the day. Devin was having some friends over that night to hang out by the fire pit, so once the kids were in bed I went out to say hi to the friends and then I went to bed shortly after.

Sunday
On Sunday morning I woke up, lit a fire in the fire place and got started with some laundry.
We set up the skeletons for the day...
Lily Grace's bestie from school invited us to another farm that afternoon for some more fall fun, so I decided to Instacart the grocery necessities for the week in case I didn't feel like going to the store afterward.
I could not live without Instacart. Well, I guess I could, but I'd be a lot more frazzled/stressed!

I still have a nasty cough from the pneumonia, so we decided to live-stream Mass this week rather than attend in person. Nobody wants to sit next to someone who's hacking for over an hour--- watching at home seemed like the better choice.

After Mass we ran some errands, and then met up with our friends at the farm. This was a new-to-us farm and it was cute!
We loved getting to spend several hours with friends while playing outside.
After the farm, some of us just couldn't hang any longer 😊
It was such a wonderful weekend. The perfect blend of busy and chill.

Today I am linking up with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday.  Have a great week!! See you back here Wednesday for WUW!

  7. I love that LG asks to match you. I am surprised when Ella still wants to match, I know it wont be much longer where she completely hates me the fun of teens. That is a lot of wine corks but I love the table.

  8. This was a great weekend! I miss the pumpkin patch stuff with kids. We would hit up pumpkin patches and fall festivals all the time when our girl was little. The matching outfits were so cute! So glad you are doing well.
