Weekend Highlights

Hello hello and happy Monday! I hope you all had a nice weekend and are looking forward to a nice week ahead. This week we have no summer camps on the agenda, so we will be filling our days with play dates at the pool/park/playground. It'll be nice to get to spend more time with LG after her week at camp last week.

This past weekend we were lucky enough to have very little on our schedule. We woke up without plans and were able to do whatever we were in the mood for. We haven't had a weekend like that in what feels like forever! Despite not having official plans, we actually somehow ended up doing a lot of activities together. The kids were worn out, took GREAT naps, which meant for some great relaxation time for Dev & I. All in all, a great weekend! Let's have a look:

The weekend started with our girl's first ever dance recital! The camp she attended last week was a dance camp, so she had a very brief recital on Friday afternoon. It was so nice to be able to put a face to the name of all her little friends she made at camp during the week. Also, a dance recital for 3-5 year olds is hilarious. Very little went according to plan, but the parents and counselors were all laughing.

After the recital we went home, Liam napped while LG played, and then we spent the rest of the day by the pool. Unfortunately no pics!

On Saturday morning we woke up, I went for a run, and then we decided to check an item off our bucket list: watch airplanes land/take off at the airport.

The kids both had fun, but Liam was in heaven! He kept saying "Airplane Daddy! Airplane Mommy!"

One of LG's friends came to meet us at the overlook and they played for a bit. Then came the inevitable nap time crash.

We came home, both kids napped, and then we headed to our favorite place, the U.S. National Whitewater Center to watch the rafters/kayakers and a rock climbing competition they were having. This particular competition has the rock climbing wall jut out over a pool. The climbers do not wear harnesses and if they fall, they fall into the water. The tallest one is 45 feet high-- that's quite a drop into the water! Here's a picture from their website so you can get a better feel for it:

Having fun watching the climbers...

We had fun but it was HOT! 91 degrees but the "feels like" temp was 97. We put Liam's shade up on his stroller and then alternated our little fan between the two kids. This picture cracks me up:

The hair, the facial expression, everything. She gets it.

After we ate a picnic dinner LG and I walked to one of the concession huts to buy ice cream. She grabbed a frozen lemonade and we grabbed Liam a popsicle. They were both happy campers with their cold treats.

In the car on the way home we were all saying how much fun we had and that we should go back to the Whitewater Center in the morning. So, we woke up super early Sunday morning, went to the 7 am Mass instead of 9, and then headed back to the Whitewater Center!

We climbed rocks...

paddle boarded...

 kayaked...

splashed around a bunch in the river...

and then had a picnic in our hammock.

LG had a birthday party to attend n the afternoon and we were all planning to go, but Liam napped super late so Devin took her on his own. That gave me a chance to get caught up on laundry, dishes, getting LG's rest time boxes put together, etc.

It was a wonderful weekend filled with good quality family time.

Thanks for reading along today! I am linking up with Tanya for Hello Monday. Have a great day!
