Friday Favorites: Spring Break Tickets are Booked!

Good morning friends and happy Friday! This week flew by and we are looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend at home. Here's a look at our week:

Summer Camp Sign Ups!

LG's first ever week of camp at 2 years old.

February 1st marked the first day to start registering for summer camps. So far we have LG signed up for one dance camp and one gymnastics camp. Liam is signed up for one week of Summer Safari camp which will be water play, art, and lots of outside time. It is fun to be thinking about summer already!

Passport Office

Remember how I told you our spring trip plans had changed? Well, originally Devin and I were planning an anniversary trip for just the two of us to Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia but our childcare fell through... meaning we had to make some changes to our plans. And those changes include these two little nuggets getting passports of their own!

This week we headed to the post office to get the kids' passports. Their passport photos are hilarious and not the most flattering (I won't post them here!). Let's just say they didn't know what to do when they were told "don't smile". 😆

Tickets Booked

So the kids' passports are on their way, meaning we were able to book our flights! The new destination is IRELAND! Big pivot from Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, huh?

Why Ireland? Well, we knew either our trip was going to be cancelled or we were going to have to bring the kids with us. We knew traveling between 3 countries during COVID could turn out to be tricky. What if we needed to prove negative tests to go from one country to another? Would rapid tests do or would we need PCR's? How do you go about getting a PCR in a foreign country? We decided one country would be all we could handle with kids during COVID. Then, we found out Devin had a 2 week work trip to Ireland that just so happens to coincide with the kids' spring breaks. We realized one flight would already be paid for.. it's only one country.. and Dev and I have always said how much we would love to go to Ireland. No time like the present, right?

I did some research, found out Ireland is very family friendly (great for small kids-- woohoo!) and I figured, "let's give it a shot!"

We are REALLY excited and have read a lot of books/articles/blogs and have been watching a lot of travel shows about how great Ireland is for a family vacation. We are planning to rent a car in Dublin and pretty much do a circle going all the way around the Southern and Southwestern parts of the island before finishing and flying home from Dublin. If you've been to Ireland before I'd love any tips you may have!!

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. Have a nice weekend!

  1. Eek! I love Ireland. (Interestingly I just got off the phone with Passport Canada to make sure I can get Q's passport in time for our trip in two weeks, fingers crossed!)
We went to Ireland in 2010 (pre-kids) so I'm sure my tips aren't up to date, but you can read my post about it here: http://www.torontosam.ca/2016/03/happy-st-patricks-day.html
(or search Ireland on my blog). My tip is to be prepared for the weather to change several times throughout the day - lots of layers, a raincoat and umbrella, even if it's sunny when you start out.

  2. My husband and I went to Ireland in October and it was wonderful. We are "old" and weren't traveling with children but we saw families everywhere we went. We loved southern Ireland. The group we were with continued on after we came home. In Northern Ireland, there is a park - The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I saw their pictures and was so sad to have missed that!! I posted about our trip beginning with this post and then for quite a few days following if you are interested. https://lisa-musingsofamiddle-agedmom.blogspot.com/2021/10/ireland-october-2021.html
