Friday Favorites-- a Summer Giveaway!

Hello friends! I hope you are having a nice week. We officially have a kindergartner in our house and I am equal parts excited and also wondering where my tiny little baby went.

The graduation ceremony was precious. They said the Pledge of Allegiance, several prayers, sang some songs, and as they walked up to the stage to "graduate", the school director read some sweet things their teachers had written about them. I loved every single second of it. And now summer is here and we are ready to make the most of it. I am very much looking forward to all the fun this summer will bring!

I feel it has been forever since I've done a Friday Favorites post and today I have some things to share that are new-ish to me over the past few months but I have really come to love. At the bottom of this post I am doing a little giveaway where the winner will get to choose one of the featured items in this post and I will mail it to you! I love these products so much I want someone else to love them too. 😊

Let's have a look:

Sun Bum Sunscreen-- We were at the Whitewater Center a little over a month ago and had forgotten to pack our sunscreen. I ran into the little shop to buy some and the saleswoman was really talking up how good this sunscreen smelled. I mean she kept going on and on about it, I thought "dang, is it really that good?" It was the only brand they had in the shop, so I grabbed some and the minute we put it on our whole family was like "oh my gosh, that smells REALLY good!" Hahaha I mean, I thought the lady in the shop was a little crazy but now I've turned into the crazy sunscreen lady. Our kids insist on putting on this brand instead of the others we have at home. We have the sunscreen and the chapstick. They are both wonderful!

Rind Snacks-- I was out running a bunch of errands one day and wanted a healthy snack. I saw the watermelon-coconut one of these in the snack aisle and thought I'd give it a shot. They were delicious! And healthy! The perfect snack for being on the go. I have now tried them all and they are all good. My favorites are the coconut/watermelon, peach/apple/persimmon, and the strawberry/pear/apple. That being said, I am a Sour Patch Kid fan and the tangy kiwi really hit the spot when you're craving something sour.  These would make for the perfect snack to throw in your pool bag, picnic basket, or purse for some outside summer fun.

Sunless Tanner-- My hairdresser Stephanie always has the best suggestions of new things for me to try. After talking to women all day long for her job, she certainly is "in the know" about all the good beauty products to try out. So when she told me this sunless tanner was her new favorite, I opened up my Amazon app and bought it right then and there. I have used a variety of sunless tanners over the years, and I have to agree with Stephanie that this one is GREAT! Here's why I love this one so much:

- With tanning wipes it is very easy to miss a spot, and unfortunately you don't notice you've missed the spot until the tan has already developed and it's too late. This St. Tropez tanner is a mousse that goes on dark, so you can see where you've missed applying it and fix immediately.

- With other tanners you do not have control over how dark the tan is. With this one, you do! You leave it on for 1-3 hours depending on how dark you want it, then rinse it off. It will continue to develop for up to 8 hours after putting it on, but the shade stays roughly the same as when you wash it off. So if you're wanting a subtle tan, wash it off after 1 hour. If you want a darker tan, leave it on for 3 hours.

** You WILL need a mitt to apply this. I just bought the cheapest one on Amazon and it worked very well***

I used the sunless tanner earlier this week and took some before/after pictures:

Here are my legs before. I always try to exfoliate with this first and shave. Then I rub some regular lotion on my knees/ankles/any other dry areas.

This is what it looks like right after I put it on. See how it's darker and I can see where I've missed any spots?

I wanted the tan to be darker, so I left it on for 2.5 hours. Even after you rinse it off the tan continues to develop for up to 8 hours, so once I showered and got ready in the morning I took one last pic:

Looks pretty realistic right? After having spent way too much time in tanning beds in high school and college, my days of getting a real tan from the sun are over. I've had 20+ moles removed and some of them were sketchy. I much prefer sitting in the shade with my sunscreen on and using a sunless tanner instead.

So in the hopes of kicking summer off right, I wanted to do a little giveaway! You can enter the rafflecopter below to win YOUR CHOICE of the following:

  3. What a great giveaway, it's always fun to try someone's tried and true favorites! I'm totally someone who would go on and on about how good Sun Bum smells! (FWIW trust me, don't use the hair lightener...it took months for me to get my hair right again! But the sunscreen is where it's at.)
