Hello friends and happy Friday! If you've been reading here for awhile then you know that after a couple years of being a Stay-at-Home-Mom, I am returning to the working world this fall. I will be teaching preschool at the same preschool Lily Grace attended for years, and now Liam will be there with me. I love that Liam and I will get to walk to school together, spend our days right down the hall from one another, and then we can walk home together afterwards.
Well it was on my summer to-do list to pull out all my old work clothes, see what fits, and then donate what I don't think I will wear. Donating is by far the hardest part for me. I am really bad about holding onto clothes I haven't worn for years thinking "but maybe I will wear it again one day!" Anyone else that way? Odds are, if I haven't worn it the past 3-4 years, I'm not going to wear it again. I need to just donate!!
Anyway.. after going through everything, these are a few outfits I was able to pull together that will still work for this fall. Fair warning, about 90% of these clothes are old and so I won't be able to find an exact match to link to. That being said, sometimes I just like to look at other people's outfits because it sparks an idea for me of something I already own. So I will try to link what I can, but just know that not everything will be link-able! Also, the typical work-wear of a preschool teacher is more casual than that of someone who works in an office. So these may not work for you if you work in a more formal setting-- sorry!
Mustard Yellow Polka Dot Blouse/Navy Blue Pants
Gingham Dress
Black Maxi Dress/Denim Jacket
This one is fun because it looks like a maxi dress...
but is actually a jumpsuit!
Short Sleeve Cowlneck Top/Navy Blue Pants
Skirt (the one I have linked is a little more Kelly Green than mine which is older, but maybe this fall they will change the shade?)/White T/Denim Jacket
So this post is a "part one" because I hardly even made a dent in my closet. 😳 That's a little embarrassing, I need to be better about donating clothes! That being said, stay tuned for a "part two" or maybe even a "part three" and "part four" over the next few weeks. 😅
Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. Have a wonderful weekend!!
You are set! I am the opposite and get rid of stuff really easily. I really love the brown kimono. In hotter climates like mine and yours (even more) I love some fall colored stuff that is short sleeved since it is literally still hot into October and November. I think as a preschool teacher you will be bending and sitting on the floor a lot and I think you will like a longer skirt, dress, or pants. I think you could totally rock the dress and sneakers look. Do you have any sneakers? Love that you are really going through everything and being intentional. I would also say to put the outfits together in your closet, try to wear everything before repeating and then donate what you didn't want to wear or that didn't work. I try to do this at the end of each season.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to put the outfits together in one spot!!! I've also heard the idea to turn all of your hangers one way and then turn them back once you wear something -- at the end of the season get rid of what you didn't turn back around. I might need to take my own advice. . . .:/
DeleteSo many cute outfits and those look perfect for a work day with kiddos! I work in a casual office; I love those reddish pants with the denim jacket. I'll have to recreate that look!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you have been able to pull so many outfits together already! I tend to be the opposite and chuck/donate things on a whim and then a year or so later wishing I hadn't as I scour the closet looking for that one item I have in mind.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting that you will be right down the hall from Liam and walking to work is a nice bonus too! Great outfits!
ReplyDeleteThese outfits are so cute! Love the inspo!
ReplyDeleteCute stuff!! I need to do this. . .I, too, am rejoining the workforce next month (but in an office) and probably need to GET RID of what I won't ever wear again. It makes me sad -- I bought a lot when I was doing different things and now have no where to wear the cute stuff too except church -- but there are only 52 Sundays in a year!! Thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteYou are ready to roll. So many great options. I LOVE the pants/peplum/long sweater.
