Life Lately-- Christmas-y Version

Hello friends! I hope you've all had a nice week. Just like the rest of you, we have been busy around here! I wanted to update you on all the fun we've been having.

First up: baking cookies! We baked our first batch of Christmas cookies a couple weeks ago and the kids had a blast. We made some traditional Christmas ones (trees, angels, gingerbread men, etc.), but then the kids pulled out other random cookie cutters too. Liam baked several cat cookies and LG made several baby stroller cookies. 😆 They are certainly creative!

We stored the cookies in an airtight container and have been decorating them as we eat them, so each time they have a cookie they get to decorate it beforehand. There's no real reason for this other than they get sick of decorating after about 3 cookies and we had roughly 3 dozen.

Here is one of Liam's "Christmas Cat" cookies:

And here is one of Lily Grace's "Christmas Baby" cookies:

I posted these already but they're so cute I'm posting again... we met Santa!

LG made a list of her and Liam's toys and read it to Santa. It was so cute!

Have any of you ever had a kid who was so dang overtired but fought napping? One day last week Liam was clearly in need of a nap, but his FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) kept getting the better of him. He couldn't stand the thought of missing out on any fun in order to take a nap.

Finally I held him in my arms for a few minutes and snuggled him, and the next thing I knew he has passed out.

You better believe I sat there and snuggled that little guy for as long as I could! I know the day will come when he's too big for me to snuggle him like this, and that day will be here probably much sooner than I'd like it to be!

Lily Grace's class made gingerbread cookies from scratch and decorated them. This is one of her cookies, "Rapunzel cookie":

Last night we went to one of our favorite places, the US National Whitewater Center, for ice skating.
This was the kids' first time skating and they had a lot of fun! Lily Grace was actually pretty good! Liam just had Devin drag him around the rink the whole time but whatever, he had fun. 😂
We ended our night with dinner and hot chocolate by the fire. It was a fun Thursday night!

Be sure to come back here on Monday for our last Not Just a Mom of 2022!

Next year we will be back again with some new, fun topics! If you are a blogger we would love for you to link up with us on Monday and throughout 2023!

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites.

  1. That ice skating at the center looks so nice! Your kids are at the perfect age for cookies and the magic of Christmas. I think you are on to something with the taking one out and decorating. It provides a short activity, too!

  4. So fun your favourite spot has ice skating! I like that you get them to decorate the cookies each time they want one, more mindful eating :) Yes, my younger son fought naps too even though he was exhausted and grumpy.
