Let's Look: Outdoor Organization

Hi there! Today the theme for Let's Look is Outdoor Organization and I have to say... I can NOT wait to read all the tips. Finding a way to store out outside toys was a bit problematic at first. We live in an older house, built in 1972, with very little storage. Oh, and no garage. My house growing up had a basement and a garage... so referring to my usual "what did my mom do?" doesn't work in this scenario. We have done the best we can with what we've got... but I can't wait to see what you all do to store all of your outdoor items!

Our little arts & crafts lover enjoying the patio. 😍

Last summer we bought one of these Lifetime storage sheds at Costco. The one I linked is a little smaller, I couldn't seem to find the same exact one on Amazon. Anyway, we bought this shed and put it on our back patio to keep all the kids toys. For a second I thought "I should clean this up a little more in here before I take pictures" but in the interest of laziness being real, I figured I'd show you what it really looks like.

As you can see, we have two bikes, an archery kit, and some buckets filled with other toys. We have a storage shelf with drawers full of chalk, bases/balls for baseball, more bubbles, art supplies, bike helmets, etc.

The big black bag on the shelf holds our inflatable pool. Here is a closer look at the buckets:

We have one for sports/balls/etc.

And one for all the kids water and sandbox toys.
The big black bag in the back holds our pop up soccer goals. These were a gift and we LOVE them! We use them all the time! I couldn't find the exact same ones, but these are similar.

We have Liam's bike hanging up, and Lily Grace's bike parked in front.
Our problem though is that we have even more... some we hide under the play set at the end of each day in case it rains overnight.
Or we drag them on top of the wood chips to get them off the lawn each night.  We made the mistake last year of letting this little roller coaster ride sit out in the same spot for like 2 straight weeks.. then moved it to find the grass beneath it completely dead. Oops. So now we move it to the wood chips every night when we clean up.

As for our patio furniture cushions, we leave them out if it isn't supposed to rain and set them inside the back door if rain is likely. We have been debating getting another storage shed for the cushions... something smaller like this:

As for our lawnmower, leaf blower, rakes, gardening supplies, etc. We have another Lifetime storage shed in the back corner of our yard. We bought ours at Costco 6-7 years ago and I couldn't find the exact same one, but this one is similar (although double the price.. yikes).

After 6-7 years it is still in great shape (other than being a little dirty at the moment). This was honestly a great investment!

Now I can't wait to read how you all organize your outdoor items!

Linking up with Shay and Erika. See you back here Friday! I can't wait for next month's topic... our summer bucket lists!

  1. I said to my husband the other day, I'm sure someday we will miss it when we don't have toys everywhere, so I suppose I should appreciate the mess while we have it. I know how you feel about the toys, but it's okay (even if I would prefer it a little tidier!).

  2. We just bought a storage box for our cushions. I'm not sure what took us so long to do so! I got lucky and found a cover to put over our love seat, but the dining table seat cushions can go in the storage box now.
