A Saturday in the Life of Us

 Good morning friends and happy Monday! This past Saturday I took pictures throughout the day and documented a typical Saturday in our lives. Looking back on old "Day in the Life" posts are some of my favorites. It's so sweet to look back on a time when the kids were smaller (or not even born yet!). After looking back through them I realized I had never done a Saturday or a Sunday for a "day in the life", so this will be something new!

Anyway, let's get to it!

I took that picture from the pool deck at our Air B&B in Bali... it doesn't even look real to me! All from a cell phone camera, isn't that nuts? Anyway, I would go back to Bali tomorrow if I could!!

On weekdays I usually wake up between 4:30-5:00, depending on if I plan to go to the gym. On weekends though I "sleep in", meaning I don't set an alarm and usually wake up naturally around 5:30. This day I woke up at 5:30, but laid in bed a little longer before finally grabbing my phone at 6:17.

I made a cup of coffee, checked our to-do list for the day and realized we had a wide open morning-- woohoo! The kids had been asking to go to Discovery Place Kids museum and it's always easier to take both of them when Devin is around, so I made us some online reservations. 

Then, at 6:45, this little guy woke up. We grabbed a cup of milk and some books and snuggled and read in bed. 

Our big girl woke up and climbed into bed to read some books too. Liam was over it by then so Devin took him to the grocery store to grab some eggs. 

We ate our breakfast and headed out the door to the museum. The kids LOVE it here! Liam always plays at the water station for at least a solid half hour...

Then he headed to the trains.

Lily Grace bounced from room to room but then we ended up in "the treehouse" for awhile and played with the toys up there. 

After a couple hours there we headed home for lunch. The kids played out back with Dev while I cooked. Liam was just running around like a wild man (very typical 😂) while Lily Grace was "painting a mural". My dad needed some plywood for a project at their house and had a little leftover. He asked if we wanted it and we figured it would make for a great mural. 

Then we had our lunch al Fresco... 

See those pretzel hot dogs on LG's plate? Is that an Ohio thing or do people do that in other parts of the country/world too? I grew up seeing it at picnics and cookouts all the time and then moved here and people looked at me like I was crazy 😂. But the kids love it!

We had several bird visitors to the bird feeder while we were eating our lunch outside. I am quickly becoming a crazy bird lady. I don't know what it is, but they are so relaxing to watch.

Lily Grace went back to work on her mural.

And then Dev took her to a birthday party while I stayed behind with a napping Liam. Napping Liam meant I got to read my book on the patio in peace-- woohoo!!

This book is about the Galveston hurricane and is fascinating. I know how many of you are also big history lovers. So far I really like this one!

This little guy eventually woke up, had a drink and we snuggled. 

Then he wanted to play with his water toys. 

We call this one "The Whitewater Center" because it reminds us of the US National Whitewater Center close by that we go to a lot. This toy is hands down one of their favorites. They have spent hours playing with this!

Then Devin and LG came home from the birthday party. Lily Grace and I laid in the hammock for a bit while she told me about the party.

Devin doesn't usually go to birthday parties alone with one of the kids and he was exhausted after 😂. We both said we didn't really feel like cooking, so we grabbed takeout (sushi-- yum!).

The rest of the night was a whirlwind of bath time, bedtime, and then hanging out with Dev while we watched TV (The Lost Pirate Kingdom on Netflix-- it's fascinating!).
