What's Up Wednesday

Hello hello it's What's Up Wednesday! Today I am linking up with Sheaffer and Shay to share a little this & that from the month of January.

What We're Eating: My AeroGarden has taken off!! Look at all this lettuce:

Since we have a bunch of salad greens in the AeroGarden, and we still buy a big thing of spinach from Costco every week, I have been having a salad for lunch every day. As for dinners, we have had black bean burgers, soups, eggplant rollatini (not this exact recipe, but this one is similar):

and portobello mushroom fajitas:

What I'm Reminiscing About: Our sweet girl is going to kindergarten next year, and Liam has been registered to go to our church preschool starting this fall. I am a big ball of emotions about it.

I am remembering LG's first year at our church preschool, and how much she thrived there. I remember walking her to school with my big pregnant belly, we hadn't even met our angel boy yet. This preschool has been such an incredible blessing in our lives, and I am excited for Liam to get to go there too. I hope he gets some of the same teachers LG had!

What I'm Loving: Weird thing to love, but I got a steamer for Christmas and I am OBSESSED. I have to iron a lot of shirts because Devin wears them for work and the kids have a few things that need ironed as well. Look at Liam's shirt before:

And after:

No exaggeration this took me 10 seconds to steam. 10 seconds!!!  It takes me longer to button the shirt up once I'm done. Now granted Liam's shirts are a lot tinier than Devin's, so obviously Devin's take longer, but still! It is much more efficient. If I have 20+ things to iron, it saves me so much time to use the steamer. If you iron a lot, give the steamer a try (link here).

What We've Been Up To: The weather around here is so wacky. It snowed two weeks in a row...

and then Tuesday the high was 61.

Regardless of the temperature we have been trying to get outside and enjoy it.

What I'm Working On: Planning our spring trip! Devin and I had originally hoped to take an anniversary trip to Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia but Devin's parents were no longer able to watch the kids (and mine will be on their own trip). So we've had to make changes.. as soon as we have everything booked and set in stone, I'll let you know more.

What I'm Excited About: See above about our spring trip!

What I'm Watching/Reading: January was a great month for books! I can't wait to share my book post with you within the next week or two. I am currently reading Rock Paper Scissors and so far I like it, but it's too soon to tell. Have any of you read it? It came highly recommended.

`

In the beginning of January I read Little Secrets and that was incredible! Here is the summary from Amazon: "All it takes to unravel a life is one little secret....

Marin had the perfect life. Married to her college sweetheart, she owns a chain of upscale hair salons, and Derek runs his own company. They're admired in their community and are a loving family - until their world falls apart the day their son, Sebastian, is taken.

A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. The FBI search has gone cold. The publicity has faded. She and her husband rarely speak. She hires a PI to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman. This discovery sparks Marin back to life. She's lost her son; she's not about to lose her husband, too. Kenzie is an enemy with a face, which means this is a problem Marin can fix.

Permanently."

It feels crazy to already be thinking it's one of my top books of the year, but it'll most likely be on that list.

As for watching, we just watched Darkest Hour on Netflix and really liked it. Winston Churchill was a fascinating man and I loved learning more about him.

What I'm Listening To: You mean when my kids aren't forcing me to listen to the Encanto soundtrack nonstop? 😉 When it isn't Encanto, it's country. Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Cody Johnson, etc.

What I'm Wearing: I went to J Crew Factory over the weekend to grab some new jeans and look for a pink/Valentine's-ish shirt to wear to the kids' school Valentine's parties.

Kinda hard to see in the picture but this shirt has little red hearts on it.

Heart Shirt

A pink gingham shirt

A heart sweater

And a solid pink sweater

I ended up taking home some jeans, the blue shirt with the little red hearts, and the pink sweater.

I wore these two outfits over the past week too:

Leggings/Boots/Shirt (old from J Crew)/ Vest

Other than that I'm pretty much running around in exercise clothes!

What I'm Doing This Weekend: Lily Grace has been begging me to take her & Liam to PlayLand and the weather this weekend is going to be cold and rainy-- so it feels like the perfect weekend for an indoor playground!

Thanks for reading along today! I can't wait to read and see what you've all been up to too!

  1. I LOVED Rock, Paper, Scissors. I thought it was one of the better thrillers I've read lately.
