What's Up Wednesday

Hello there! I hope you are all having a good week and are staying well. I was lucky enough to get away with some other mom friends over the weekend at Lake Keowee in SC.

This group has all known each other for YEARS and it has been fun to go through college together, post college, and now motherhood. I am very grateful to have such a wonderfully supportive group of friends. We had a wonderful time chit chatting, making some delicious food, and relaxing. It was a great way to spend a weekend!

What We're Eating This Week- Tonight we are having veggie fajitas with refried beans. This week we are also having:
- Falafel burgers
- Jackfruit Tacos
- Eggplant Rollatini
- Stir Fry

What I'm Reminiscing About- Last week Devin and I were both saying how Liam's current age has been one of our favorites for both kids. The 2.5-3 age range is just so sweet. His language skills, both spoken and receptive, have exploded lately and it makes life much easier. Everything is still so magical at this age. Seeing the world through the eyes of an almost 3 year old is really special... which then led Devin and I to go down this rabbit hole of pictures of LG at that age.
Meeting Pocahontas and thinking she was real. 😍
Doing floor time with her newborn brother
Reading to her newborn brother
Pictures of Lily Grace and sweet newborn Liam together just about melted me into a puddle. Does it make me baby hungry?? Yep... it sure does!!

What I'm Loving- TENNIS! Hannah, my college roommate (and one of the girls pictured above in the lake picture), and I have been playing tennis weekly and we have really been enjoying it!
Here we are showing our families that we played well even though it was super hot out.
Hannah has already had one official lesson, but we plan to take more in the coming months to improve our game. It is really nice to get to spend quality time with one of my best friends, while also doing something healthy each week. We love our Tennis Tuesdays!
What We've Been Up To- Last week Lily Grace had Camp Eagle Rock from 8 am- 4 pm every day. I was really nervous about our sweet rising kindergartner having that long of a day, but she LOVED it!! They went on nature hikes daily, swam daily, sang camp songs and played lots of outdoor games. LG is definitely a social butterfly who thrives when around others. Like most kids, she also thrives when playing outdoors. So basically summer camp is a perfect combination for her.

Our little guy on the other hand...

After dropping LG off at camp on Monday, Liam did not know what to do without her. It was so sad! He cried off and on throughout the morning and kept asking "when we go get Lily?" Breaking my heart over here!! So I realized Liam also needed to be busy, and playing at our usual spots (where LG is usually with us) was not the answer. I signed him up for "camp" (Mom's Morning Out) at our YMCA and everyone was happy. Lily Grace got to go to camp, Liam got to go to "camp", and this mama had a few hours to herself every morning. Win/win!
What I'm Working On- Oh I have been browsing all my old Pinterest boards looking for crafts and activities for this upcoming school year with my future Pre-K class! I cannot wait for all the cuteness. Many of my old kindergarten lessons could still work once tweaked a bit, so I've been tweaking away!
What I'm Excited About- All the back to school excitement headed our way in just a few short weeks. In 3 weeks when we pull out that "My First Day" board it'll be for KINDERGARTEN!! 😍 And then Liam and I get to share a board haha! His first day of 3's and my first day teaching Pre-K.
What I'm Watching/Reading- This is not what I'm currently watching because it doesn't start until August 21... but have ya'll seen this?!? Devin and I are PUMPED:
It is so rare for us to watch a show we both love, and Game of Thrones was one of those shows. House of the Dragon has a lot of potential for us!!

As for reading.. I have read a lot of great books the past two months and am looking forward to sharing a book review soon. The book I just finished was The Paris Apartment
What I'm Listening To- Oooh friends-- do you know Hollow Coves? They have become my new favorite to listen to in the morning.
They are an Australian Indie-folk band that is the perfect mix of happy and upbeat, but also calm/chill. Tell your Google Home or Alexa to play Hollow Coves in the morning while you make your breakfast. You won't regret it. If I had to pick a favorite song of theirs, it would probably be "Moments". So maybe start with that one. 😉

What I'm Wearing- Last week I wrote a post about updating my "Back to Work Wardrobe". I went through my closet and tried on a lot of clothes, donating what no longer fit and tried making outfits out of what I decided to keep. Here are a few:

Mustard Yellow Polka Dot Blouse/Navy Blue Pants

Black Leggings/Black Tee/Brown Kimono (I wish I had a better link for you, but I couldn't seem to find anything that looked similar to this and it's super old. Here are some options: hereherehere, and this one isn't very similar, but cute).

Skirt (the one I have linked is a little more Kelly Green than mine which is older, but maybe this fall they will change the shade?)/White T/Denim Jacket

You can check the rest of that post out here. And this is what I wore on the 4th of July:
I had plans to wear the festive scarf but it was 95+ degrees out, so there was no way that was happening! Here is a similar maxi skirt, tank top, and scarf.

What I'm Doing This Weekend- I'll be spending Saturday with my other group of close girlfriends-- my post-college crew. We also have a birthday party this weekend and then a big family cookout with my parents and younger sister. It'll be a busy weekend, but the best kind of busy. Time spend with the people we love!
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month- Let the back to school craziness begin! Lily Grace starts the 3rd week of August and then it's time to get my preschool classroom ready.
1,000 Hours Outside Update- Wondering what this is? Back in May I wrote about our goal to spend 1,000 hours outside. You can read more about that here.  As I write this (on Tuesday) we are adding 87 hours for the month of July, and we still have roughly a week to go before August begins. This has us at a grand total of 223 hours so far. We started this in June, meaning we have 777 hours left and a little over 10 months to do it.

Today I am linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday. Have a great rest of the week!

  1. Cute outfits and I have always said 3-4 is my favorite age for little ones. I have a great niece who is 2 1/2 and it is already getting to be my favorite with her curiousity in life. Have a good day!

  3. I bet you had a wonderful girl's weekend away! I do love those preschool years so much (part of why I went to school to teach pre-k!) and yet now that my kids are independent teens I'm also thankful that those year are over. LOL.
