Weekend Highlights Part 1

Happy Easter Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and were able to spend some good quality time with your families. We had a wonderful weekend and I am so happy to share it with you!

Our weekend actually began on Wednesday with the start of my spring break (finally!!). Our school does a half day on the Wednesday before Easter and then we have off through the following week. So this year we are off the afternoon of 4/17 and don't return to school until 4/29. We will come back and have just a little over a month before summer break begins!

On Wednesday afternoon we made the drive to Wilmington, NC to drop Lily Grace off with Devin's parents. Last year for Devin's birthday they gifted him (and me!) a weekend away in Charleston and we realized we never took them up on it. Devin's birthday is this Thursday and it had been almost a full year since they gave him his gift. We wanted to make sure we used it! We drove to their house on Wednesday afternoon and then headed to Wrightsville Beach for a picnic dinner.
First thing on Thursday morning we woke up and hit the road for Charleston. We arrived around lunchtime and walked around for a bit before we stopped at Cru Cafe for lunch.
This place was delicious!! We got the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, I got the butter lettuce salad and Devin got the balsamic portobello sandwich. We will definitely go back here again the next time we visit Charleston!

After lunch we walked around some more, visited the marketplace, and grabbed some ice cream at Kilwin's.
Then we went back to our hotel to freshen up before dinner. I wish I had thought to take pictures of our hotel but I wasn't thinking! We stayed at the Indigo Inn which was a former Indigo factory turned into a B&B that is the perfect mix of old charm and modern comforts. Here are a few pictures I snagged from online:

This wasn't our exact room, but it was set up the same way. Charming yet had everything modern we wanted.
They have this adorable courtyard area in the center of the hotel. We ate breakfast here in the mornings and Devin had a glass of wine while I had some iced tea at night (they set out wine and cheese for the guests in the lobby for a few hours each night-- so nice!).

After hanging out at the hotel for awhile we went to dinner at McCrady's Tavern. This was another great meal and I would highly recommend going here if you are visiting Charleston.
I snapped a pic of the bump before we left the hotel. It's getting so big!

After dinner we walked around and watched the sunset. It was beautiful!

Too much to share for one day so I will finish our recap tomorrow. Have a great day!

  1. What a fun getaway! My husband and I went to Charleston two years ago as a 40th birthday gift to each other and an anniversary getaway. It was a lot of fun. We have family in Wilmington and Wrightsville beach is one of our favorites.
