What's Up Wednesday

Good Morning and happy What's Up Wednesday! Today I am linking up with Sheaffer and Shay to share what's been going on around here lately.

What We're Eating: This week the weather has been absolutely beautiful-- like upper 70's-mid 80's with no humidity kind of beautiful. So we have been grilling out every single night! I am so happy its grill season because we love to spend some time playing outside while our dinner is cooking. It's much more fun before the mosquitos come out!

What I'm Reminiscing About: I am still reminiscing about our weekend trip to Charleston, SC.
I wrote two blog posts about it here (part 1) and here (part 2). It was a great way to kickoff spring break and our Easter weekend.
What I'm Loving: This weather! We have been outside playing with Lily Grace's new slide pretty much nonstop since she got it Easter Sunday. It was dirt cheap for a slide and I figured she can play with it in the backyard in the warmer months and we can put it in her playroom in the colder months since its so small.
What We've Been Up To: A whole bunch of chalk on the patio, blowing bubbles, and sliding on the slide. Hello summer!! We are ready for you!
What I'm Excited About: I am so excited to leave for my Engineering is Elementary conference in Boston next week!
I know I will come away from this with some new and engaging elementary engineering lessons that my students will love. Also, Boston in May should be beautiful!
What I'm Watching/Reading: What I'm watching is Game of Thrones.. I HATED it the first few episodes but ladies, I am hooked now!!
This show is everything I should hate about a show: extremely violent, over the top sex scenes, unnecessary bad language, etc... but somehow I've gotten over all that because of how good the plot line is. Each time an episode ends I can't wait to see what is going to happen next!

What I'm currently reading is Girl, Stop Apologizing.
I am not very far into it yet, but so far I really like it! I like Rachel's no-nonsense attitude towards getting things done. She has so many valid points that I think everyone can relate to. Just this week I was thinking to myself "when am I going to have time to shop for/make/order Lily Grace's birthday things? I don't have the time for that"... so wrong. You know when I have the time? When I'm watching Game of Thrones at night. I could order most of this stuff online or over the phone in minutes, I need to just stop making excuses and do it.

If you've read this book and Rachel's other book, Girl Wash Your Face, let me know what you think of them! I'm curious to see other people's opinions of how they compare.
What I'm Listening To: I've been on a country music kick lately-- maybe its the warm sunshine and being outside? It just feels right to play country when you're playing outside in the summer! I've been listening to Today's Top Country on Pandora.
What I'm Wearing: A whole bunch of flowy dresses or tops that hide this baby bump when I want to, but can also show it off when I want to!
This was the dress on wore on Easter Sunday from Belk. My sandals are here.
This is an old Vineyard Vines dress, but this one from Amazon reminded me of it and had pockets. My sweater is from J. Crew Factory.
This is one of my favorite summer dresses. I have it in both black and blue and wear it all summer long! It's currently on sale right now for a great price. My denim jacket is here and is also on sale!
What I'm Doing This Weekend: Devin's birthday is tomorrow and we are celebrating with friends! We are planning to hike Crowder's Mountain on Saturday morning and then having lunch together with friends afterwards. The last time we hiked Crowder's Mountain was when Lily Grace was just a little thing:
I wore her in the baby carrier and we walked sooooo slowly. This time around she will be in her hiking backpack like she was this past fall:
Only this time Devin will be carrying her :)
What I'm Looking Forward to This Weekend: Other than the hike, one of my best friends who lives in Chicago is coming in town to visit and I cannot wait to see her!
What Else is New: We got to see this little nugget again yesterday and were so happy to hear that baby is as healthy as can be.
Everything looks great and while we weren't nervous about baby's health, it is still such a relief to have it confirmed. We stayed strong and did not find out the gender. Looks like we will find out in September!!

  1. Boston can be chilly in May; but it is a beautiful time to visit. We have plans to walk the freedom trail in the next week or two!
