Our Trip to Steamboat Springs Part 2

Good morning and Happy Friday! Today I am wrapping up our trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. If you missed the first part of our trip, click here to read all about it.

As I had said in the last post, we didn't do something major every single day, so I want to share with you some of the other fun things we did do while we were out there. I also want to share with you some of the places we ate at because they were delicious and I know I love a good restaurant recommendation when I visit new places.

As far as activities go:

One morning Devin and I decided to hike the ski mountain. We were huffing and puffing and climbed what felt like to the top, only to realize we were nowhere even close to the top.

This is about halfway up
And this was the view from the "top".

I know it sounds crazy but due to the angle we were looking at and the trees behind us, the rest of the mountains weren't visible. So we got to the bottom and told Devin's parents "we made it almost all the way to the top!!", then went home and Googled the exact trails we hiked... definitely not the top! For reference, this is the map of the ski trails below. We hiked up the black diamond trails VooDoo and See Me. 😂. Don't look too hard, they're near the bottom. 😉
I'm going to make myself feel better by pointing out that Black Diamonds are the most difficult to ski down, therefore the most difficult to hike up. Especially at that elevation and 6 months pregnant. We don't need to worry about how far it was 😉

Another day we took a day trip about an hour outside of town to Steamboat Lake Park.
That view 😍.
There were a lot of activities to do out on the lake: paddle boarding, kayaking, you could rent a boat, go tubing, etc. I was really in the mood to kayak and everybody else wanted to relax, so I hopped in a kayak (that's me down there!) and went all around the lake. It was absolutely breathtaking.
Meanwhile my two favorite people were back at the campsite exploring/snacking/hanging out.
At one point I pulled up to where they were and Lil hopped in the kayak with me and pretended to row. Don't worry, I didn't actually take her out on the water. She was content to pretend.

Now we easily could've stayed and camped for a few days (they had cabins to rent and places to park your RV), but since LG couldn't really do a whole lot of the activities yet, we figured we would try out the whole camping thing in a few years. No need to push it when it wasn't quite age appropriate.

Another day Devin, his brother, and dad went whitewater rafting on one of the nearby rivers. They booked the trip through Bucking Rainbow Outfitters and the guides found the perfect river that was rushing just enough without it being dangerous. It sounded like a blast! I'll go with them next time when I'm not pregnant 😉 Here are a couple pictures from their trip:
Meanwhile, LG, my mother in law and I hit up the local candy store and went out to lunch... which brings me to our restaurant recommendation list! These are all of the places we went while we were there that I would highly recommend. Every single one of these places was INCREDIBLE, so if you're ever in Steamboat please give them a try!

Breakfast/Coffee:
Freshie's -- GO HERE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

Lunch/Dinner:

So that was our trip to Steamboat! We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to going back-- hopefully in the winter next time so we can ski! If you have any questions about what to do/where to go, please feel free to leave a comment below or email me. I'm happy to help in any way I can.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Today I am linking up with Erika for Friday Favorites

  1. I know how stressful planning a trip can be - small things can get in the way of what really should be a hassle-free experience, and money can be tight.lodge in council bluffs Iowa
