Hey All, I'm assuming most of you are in the same boat as I am: stuck at home and already wondering how many more days we have to do this. We aren't supposed to go out of our homes, but there are some things that we can do in-home that can make our self-quarantine easier.
If your kiddos are anything like Lily Grace, they are struggling with this isolation. Lily Grace is almost 3, very energetic and a social butterfly. She has asked daily "when can I go back to school/church/swim class/the YMCA/etc.?" I'm trying so hard to remember that while us adults are having anxiety about all of this, so are our kids, even the really young ones. LG may not understand WHY we can't go out, but her routine and the structure she so desperately craves is gone, and it's doing a number on her.
That being said, the rules are the rules for a reason. I completely understand why we are staying at home for the unforeseeable future and we are doing our best to make this situation as bearable as possible. We are trying to stay busy, and keep things around the house light and fun. Here are a couple things we have bought on Amazon to help us fill up the endless amounts of time we have:
4. Sidewalk Chalk
5. Play-Doh Set
Good luck out there mamas! Do any of you have young kids at home too? Please leave me a comment with what you're doing to stay sane at your house!

We are dealing with the same! My 2 and 4 year old are going NUTTY! We just made an obstacle course with side walk chalk yesterday and that was actually a hit! Also, Play-Doh is a saving grace! So much of the same as you!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a struggle with two young kiddos, that's for sure!!
DeleteI can't imagine having little kids at a time like this. It's hard enough with bigger kids who can entertain themselves!
ReplyDeleteIt's not easy! But I think this is difficult no matter what age your kiddos are, it's difficult on the adults too!
DeleteI just ordered more chalk and bubbles on Amazon! I have a 1.5 year old so we are actually doing okay... turns out as a SAHM we already lived a pretty quarantined life - who knew? Thankfully, it's been nice here so we've been able to get out for walks, runs, etc. It's the craziest of times right now!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you're doing okay!!
DeleteAs a grandmother that watches my 3 grandchildren daily, it's going to get hard! So far, 6 days, and it is still somewhat "new," but we still have until the beginning of May, at least. We live in Indiana and it has been very nasty weather wise. We have visited some of the virtual field trips that have been educational and fun. We have taken advantage of some of the free websites, set up a restaurant complete with our own menu and then "played" restaurant, made an in home scavenger hunt that was a huge hit, an obstacle course is on the schedule for next week. We are really just praying that the rain stops and we are able to get out, talk walks and get some of their energy out. They are 6,4, and 8 months. Any other ideas, please let me know.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that's so hard with such big age differences! That restaurant idea is adorable! We've done outside scavenger hunts that have been a hit. Praying that the weather gets better for you so you all can get outside!!
