Our Father's Day

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a nice weekend and the weather where you live felt like summer! It was beautiful and sunny here all weekend and we spent as much time outdoors as possible.

This year more than ever I was so grateful to be able to celebrate Father's Day with my dad. Unfortunately I'm getting to the age where some of my friends are beginning to have immediate family members pass away, and I've had several girlfriends lose their fathers in the past 2-3 years. I have the most supportive, loving, and encouraging dad and am infinitely more grateful for him now that I have become a parent myself. For those of you who have lost your fathers, please know I am thinking about you today. I can't imagine how hard it is to have a holiday all about celebrating someone who means the world to you, only to have lost them.

Our Father's Day started with Devin getting to "sleep in" a little, AKA Lily Grace brought him his coffee in bed and then we left him to drink it and read the news on his phone in peace.
Liam was still sleeping, so Lily Grace and I walked to our favorite bagel place and picked up some bagel sandwiches for breakfast. Devin is all about a sausage, egg and cheese while I prefer a lox bagel. Lily Grace gets blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. 😀
When we got back, we had our bagels on the patio and Liam woke up just in time to join us and look at our bagels with envy. #bagelsfor3 #milkfor1
After our bagels we headed to a nearby park to go for a walk. It was the most beautiful morning and we loved getting some exercise in the fresh air!
We gave Devin his gifts, which were all bourbon themed this year. Devin is not a big drinker but he does occasionally like a glass of bourbon. Lily Grace "got him" some super-sized ice cube molds (the black one is for spheres and the blue one is for giant cubes). I grabbed him two new bourbon glasses from Crate and Barrel and a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean because it has a fun story behind it. Each bottle is sent on an international trip around the world, crossing the equator 4 times and making it to 5 different continents. Apparently the combination of the gentle rock of the ship, the salt air and the fluctuation in temperature causes the bourbon to have a unique color and flavor. It was pricier than your average bourbon, but if you know a bourbon lover I think it's worth it! I always love it when I know a little more about the specific vineyard a wine came from or if I know more about the region it was grown in. It makes the whole experience a little more fun.
Then Liam took his morning nap and Devin & I made our grocery list/meal plan for the week using this new cookbook I got at the library. I mean I would eat every single thing in this cookbook, everything looks so healthy and delicious!
Devin went to do the weekly grocery shopping while I stayed with the kids. He made it back in time for lunch al fresco with our little cuties.

That afternoon my parents and sister came by so we could all celebrate together. We grilled some sausages and veggies, and had potato salad, watermelon, etc. All the good BBQ foods! When my family gets together things get fun/crazy/chaotic and I can forget to take pictures... oops! But we had a blast and loved being able to celebrate both my dad and Devin.

After the kiddos went to bed we Zoomed with Devin's family and played Quiplash. If you haven't played, it's a very fun and easy game to play with people via Zoom! Definitely not kid friendly though.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! See you back here on Wednesday for What's Up Wednesday!

  2. I pretty much never remember to take photos when we have family over either. It sounds like you had a wonderful day of celebrating though.
