Friday Favorites

Good morning and happy Friday! This week did not go AT all as planned, and threw us for quite the loop (see below under Not-So-Favorite).

Pranking Devin

I can't remember if I shared this on the blog or not last year, but last October I bought a life size skeleton at Wal-Mart and had been strategically placing it around the house to try to scare Devin. I'm telling you, Devin is NOT easy to scare! Well this week Devin was in Canada for work and I had the idea to pull it out while he was gone and hopefully surprise/scare him with it when he got back. My little helper suggested we put it in the shower, so we did!

In my mind he was going to walk into the bathroom, ready to take a shower, and it would scare the daylights out of him. Do you think it worked?? Unfortunately not. I got more of a smile & eye roll and "try again". That's not stopping me though.. I won't give up until I get him good! I'm open to any and all suggestions.

My Not-So-Favorite

Liam turned two this week and while we were all ready to party hearty, our sweet boy came down with a nasty virus. Poor kid only made it one week at school before catching germs. Anyone else's kids always get sick the first week?

We had to postpone his birthday celebration and instead celebrated with just our family. I sent this pic to Devin at midnight one night when he was out of town and Liam was having a hard night:

Of course I don't ever want my kids to be sick, but I will take the sick cuddles and snuggles all day long. As I write this though, on Thursday, I am the only family member who has yet to get Liam's virus. I am praying that the kids & Devin get better ASAP and that somehow I am able to stave this nasty virus off!

So since our week was mostly made up of one sick boy and his constant snuggles, I have a couple older "favorite" pictures I never got around to sharing:

Favorite Activities

A couple week ago the kids had a play date at a place called PlayLand. It's basically a giant indoor play place. Both kids LOVED it! You can see LG up at the top with one of her BFF's, and Liam had just come down the slide into the ball pit.

They both had so much fun and kept asking when we could come back. I have a feeling we will be back a lot this winter on those cold, rainy days.

This past weekend we were in the mountains and one of the first things LG told me she wanted to do was "have hot cocoa and watch the sunrise". What 4 year old wants to wake up and watch the sunrise?? You know I love it!

We grabbed our hot chocolate and coffee, drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway to one of the overlooks, and cozied up to watch the sunrise. Watching the sunrise is one of my favorite ways to start the day.

Favorite Workout Clothes

I know everyone has a brand they are loyal to, and my favorite for the past few years has been IVL. It's a little on the pricy side, so I usually only buy 1-2 things a year, and try to buy when they're on sale. The yoga pants/leggings from IVL are my favorites by a landslide. I bought my first few pairs 2 years ago and they have held up incredibly well despite constant wear and a lot of washing. These are the same leggings I wore here:

Leggings/Tunic

And then here I am about to head out for a run one day:

I recently bought the running tank in the picture above and love it too. This stuff is very high quality, very well made, and worth every penny. Like I said, it costs a little more than your average running tank from Target or Old Navy, but it lasts for years and the material is great for exercising in.

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. I hope you all have a wonderful and HEALTHY weekend!! If anyone needs me I'll be off Lysol-ing anything without a pulse. 😉

    1. Hahaha we only watch the sunrise when in a special place-- not normally when at our own house!

  3. Hot cocoa and watching the sunrise sounds wonderful! So sorry Liam is already sick and that the rest of the family caught it. I felt like my kids were sick the entire first year of schooling and missed more days than they attended.
