How We... Fall!

Hi there! It is hard to imagine fall when the temperatures around here are still in the upper 80's and 90's, but we are all trying hard aren't we?? Since it still feels like summer, I have not decorated the house yet for fall, but I will tell you some of what I WILL be doing over the next few weeks and then I'll post some actual pics once it is all done. Grab yourself a cup of pumpkin spiced coffee and a cozy blanket and settle in to daydream about fall!

Picture above from Pinterest, our house is DEFINITELY not this fall-ready yet ;)

Last year I bought 6-7 of these pumpkins from Trader Joe's and stacked them on top of each other/leaned them up against one another similar to this picture below from Pinterest:
I feel like this is an annual thing now. Me piling pumpkins & mums on our front steps & taking a million photos at sunrise of it. I mean, it’s the second fall we’ve been in this 1800’s farmhouse of ours so it can be called a tradition now right? I say yes. This is …

I also have several of these hurricane lanterns and I like to fill them with different fall goodies.
I have them in a variety of sizes (short/medium/tall) and then I will put these on our porch steps to add a little height/variety to our fall decor. I like to have one with a candle inside surrounded by a layer of pine cones similar to this from Pinterest:

I like to fill one of my lanterns with these mini pumpkins and gourds that I get a Trader Joe's. We were there this weekend and saw they were out and only 69 cents each!

The tiger stripe ones are a little more, so I may only grab a 2-3 of those and then stock up on the other cheaper ones as my fillers.

Another fall things I love is, of course, the PSL. I love the flavor but don't love the high number of calories that come with them (420 calories in a grande-- yikes!), so I try to make my own similar/more health conscious version at home. I'll grab one of the sugar free pumpkin spice creamers and some pumpkin pie spice and add it to my own home brewed coffee.

There is nothing like a fall scented candle to get you in the mood for fall too :) I love Bath & Body Works candles and always stock up on them at the end of each season. They are normally $24.50 but will do BOGO sales at the end of each season, which is when I will buy 3-4 for the following year. My favorites are "Leaves", "Radiant Red Maple", "Sweater Weather", and "Pumpkin Apple". I will have one of these going pretty much all day.

Other than that, we love to visit our favorite pumpkin patch, Hall Family Farm to pick out our pumpkins. They have a hay ride, hot apple cider, a corn maze, funnel cakes, and more fun stuff. It is a great way to spend the morning.

We also typically try to go to the mountains for at least 2-3 weekends in the fall to go hiking along Bass Lake and to Moses Cone Manor. These pictures are from Pinterest but these are the places we go to:

I'll try to remember to take my own pictures there this year and post them! I can't wait to read how the rest of you "do fall". Leave a comment with a link to your blog below so I can check it out!

  2. I love all of your photos of pumpkins. YIKES about the calories in a PSL, I am going to start sprinkling on some pumpkin pie spice on top of my coffee.

  8. My house definitely isn't fall ready yet either. We love going to the mountain to see the fall foliage. I'm hoping things cool down a bit over here. Sierra Beautifully Candid

  9. OH that is a beautiful view! I just decorated my house for fall this week but I think it had to do with our temperatures dropping just slightly.
