What's Up Wednesday

Hi There! Happy What's Up Wednesday :) I didn't have good enough answers to all of the questions this month, so I eliminated a few and focused on the ones that really told more about what we've been up to. See my shortened version below :)

wuwquestions-edit

What We're Eating This Week- Devin is in Amsterdam for work so Lily Grace and I will be joining my parents a lot for dinner. I swear food tastes better when you don't have to make it yourself, am I right?

What We've Been Up To- Devin has been out of town for a work trip and so I have been using my time after Lily Grace's bedtime to try to get some projects done around the house. I am working on our temporary kitchen renovation that will hopefully last us until the real renovation in the next year or two. I talked a little bit more about it here. Pictures to come!

What I'm Working On- That mini kitchen reno project! Can't wait to show you the pictures.
Travelling - Amsterdam
What I'm Excited About- Our trip to Amsterdam is so close I can taste it! I keep checking the projected forecast as we get closer and closer to see if I have packed correctly. (Yes, I'm already packed and it's still over a week away... can you tell I'm a little excited??) We are also planning to stop in Bruges for a day... I cannot wait.

What I'm Watching/Reading- Anyone else watching Jack Ryan on Amazon?? We just started it but I am hooked! I loved John Krasinski in The Office but this is a whole different side of him.. and I like it!

What I'm Listening To- My podcasts that I love! I wrote a whole post about them here.

What I'm Wearing- The weather is still hot and humid around here... but I'm trying to pretend it's fall.
I snagged this dress from a consignment store a few years ago so I couldn't find it online, but this cute dress kinda reminded me of it (not sure why, they're really not that similar??)/Frye Boots (these were an investment several years ago and I LOVE them-- totally worth every penny!)
Similar Chambray Dress/Scarf (similar here-- they have 30 choices all for $13.99!)/Same Frye Boots
Skirt (old but similar here)/Chambray Shirt (similar here)/Same scarf as above (similar here)/Shoes
Dress (old, but similar here-- only $15 and they have it in other colors too!)/Same Frye Boots

What I'm Doing This Weekend- Lily Grace and I are headed to Blowing Rock with my parents! Crisp fall weather, here we come!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month- I cannot believe next month is already October and time to start planning Halloween. For those of you who know Lily Grace and that wild mane of hair she has... we have decided to embrace it and dress her up as Albert Einstein this year. We are going to put a little lab coat on her, and some white hair spray, maybe some glasses if she'll let us. Our inspiration is this from Pinterest:

What Else Is New- I received a grant for my classroom and ordered some of the coolest STEM materials.. can't wait for the kids to use them. We ordered some STEM curriculum from EiE at the Museum of Science Boston, some Spheros, some Ozobots, some more Osmo games (we already had some) and more!  I cannot wait to see their little faces when we explore these new materials. These are great educational products that are fun and engaging for kids. Their websites have educational resources but you can also Google some other ones if you want to check out something different. These would make GREAT Christmas gifts for Elementary age kids or older... and they are significantly more affordable when you aren't purchasing a class set ;)
Sphero Mini Robot - Blue, Robots
Spheros
You will need an ipad for an iphone to make your Sphero work, but this helps kids to get a fun, interactive experience with coding.

Ozobots

Osmo
Osmo is the most user friendly and easiest to figure out quickly in my opinion, but it's also the most expensive. You will need to have an ipad as well and will need to download the free app for each game you want to play. That being said, it is TOTALLY worth it and if you are looking for a great interactive educational game to play with your kids, I highly recommend Osmo (or any of the ones above!) We already had this kit I posted above, but I ordered several more educational Osmo games.

    1. Same! I normally get scared by violent stuff, but somehow with John Krasinski it's less scary... nothing bad can really happen with Jim from The Office, right? ;)

  3. Amsterdam will be so fun! I am excited for you guys and will have to keep me posted as to how you like it. I have never been but it's one of the locations I would like to go to and visit! That's a cute idea for an outfit! I can't wait to see her with her costume on. Have a good time with the parents and I totally agree - food ALWAYS taste better when someone else makes it! Lol

  4. Einstein is an adorable idea for Halloween!! Her hair is absolutely adorable. I love all your summer-meets-fall looks, they really work when the weather can't quite make up its mind. Those boots are fabulous too!
