We were so lucky to get to spend this past weekend in the mountains, and it was GORGEOUS! The leaves were turning golden yellow and beginning to fall, the temperature was in the 50's and the sun was out.. it was beautiful. Here are a few pics of how we spent our weekend:
We drove up to BR on Friday afternoon. It is normally less than 2 hours door to door, but with some construction on the roads it took almost 3.. yikes! Luckily Lily Grace was a trooper and did very well in the car. We had to listen to "The Wheels on the Bus" approximately 1,500 times, but it helped us arrive in peace so we were okay with it! We took these two picture on the drive there.
We spent the rest of the night hanging out with family and went to bed early since we had to wake up early and run (our next half marathon is only two weeks away!). We woke up Saturday morning and headed to Moses H. Cone Memorial Park to run some of the trails there. We snapped these pictures from our run:
This picture is from near Cone Manor. It was a little drizzly in the morning, but felt perfect for a run.
After that we went home and played for a little bit with Lil (who had been back at the house with my parents while we ran), then we did a little shopping while she napped. Almost everything was 40% off at J. Crew Factory (and still is online if you use the code PRESTO)!
Jeans/ Tissue Turtleneck/ Vest
I love this ruffle vest. It's the perfect combination of feminine, preppy and classic. Some of my favorite things.
After shopping we went home, and packed up Lil to go on a hike. We drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway for a bit, stopping every once in awhile to take pictures and hike some trails.

A good friend let us borrow her hiking backpack for kids and Lily Grace had the time of her life!! She thought she was big stuff in the hiking backpack and tried to strike up a conversation with every person we passed.
Do any of you have these hiking backpacks for kiddos? I know it doesn't look like it from the pictures, but this girl had the BEST time. If you have an outdoorsy family, I recommend one of these things for sure!!
This is at the top of one of the trails, Rough Ridge. It was absolutely stunning!!
On Sunday morning it was coooooold so we all bundled up with some coffee and hot chocolate and stayed indoors before we made the trek home.
We love Blowing Rock and the NC mountains so much, if any of you are considering a visit please let me know-- I'd be happy to recommend some places to check out!
Wow that looks like a fabulous area to hike in. Our great outdoors isn't quite as expansive here in England! Autumn looks beautiful over there xx Maria
ReplyDeleteOh the English countryside might not be as expansive, but it is just as beautiful!! I haven't been in years and would love to go back!
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by Julie!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful! I'm from NC, but never made it out to the mountain hiking trails. I've taken in some beautiful fall foliage drives out there though. Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures!
