Weekend Highlights

Hi all! Happy Monday! For the first time in months our weekend looked a little different than our regular weekdays and I was so happy to document it to share with you all.
On Friday night we had "Pizza Parlor Movie Night". A couple of our friends do this and I thought it was a cute way to relax as a family after a long week. This was Devin's first week back at work and I knew he was exhausted-- and so was I! We popped a frozen pizza in the oven and put on Frozen 2. Lily Grace is currently at her Frozen 2 themed summer camp as you're reading this (praise the Lord mama gets a break!!).
On Saturday morning I woke up and headed to our gym. It still isn't fully open, they're only doing outside exercise only, but it feels so good to be back in one of my favorite places. I ran around the outside track, but grabbed a picture of some of the classes they were hosting in the parking lot.
When I got home Devin had filled up the inflatable pool and Lily Grace was ready to swim!
He had a friend come over and together they watched the kiddos while I headed to the grocery store.
Side note, if you haven't tried these lemon biscotti cookies from Trader Joe's yet, grab them!!
They aren't overly sweet and the lemony flavor is refreshing. They're the perfect summer snack!
Then Saturday afternoon we had a couple more friends and kiddos over to the backyard for some burgers and hot dogs. It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday. 😀

On Sunday, we woke up and had a lazy morning around the house. Despite not having drank any alcohol, I woke up feeling hungover-- and then I realized I had hardly any water on Saturday. 😳 Does that ever happen to any of you??
I filled up my little water pitcher, threw in some cucumber slices and strawberries, and made it my mission to finish the entire thing by the end of the day.

The weather was absolutely PERFECT! We went for a family walk at one of our favorite parks...
then had lunch al fresco..
Once the kids went down for their nap, Devin and I played a game outside on the patio. We had the game Villainous but had never played before. We typically play games at night but are always too tired to learn something new and just go back to the ones we know. The instructions for this game were intimidating at first because it was 9 full pages of an instruction manual. We looked up an in-depth Youtube tutorial (it took 13 minutes to just explain how to play!) and then we felt confident enough to give it a shot. It was actually really fun! Now that we have the hang of it, we will definitely be playing again.
Then we played a couple rounds of Latice which we LOVE. This game won a bunch of Game of the Year awards and I totally see why. It's quick to learn, quick to play, and a "brain game".
Once the kids woke up we "swam" in the inflatable pool a little more, made dinner, and then went for a post-dinner walk around the neighborhood.
All in all it was a very relaxing weekend, just what we needed after Dev's first week back!

I hope you all had a nice weekend too! See you back here on Wednesday.

  4. That sounds like a wonderful weekend! We do carpet pizza parties when we go on vacation too; I just make sure to put down a towel or blanket to protect the hotel room carpet. It's lots of fun.
