What's Up Wednesday

Good morning friends and happy Wednesday! It feels like life was crawling by there for awhile, but somehow this past month has absolutely flown by. While our state is still in phase 2 of re-opening, I think even just having a few things opened back up makes life feel like it's flying by again. We finally have things to do other than the same old stuff over and over.
What We're Eating This Week: We have been lean mean grilling machines over here! The weather has been nice and warm so we have been grilling nonstop. I am blogging the recipe for these honey balsamic grilled vegetables we made tomorrow, so be sure to stop by!
What I'm Reminiscing About: We are attempting to plan a trip to Italy for 2021 which is bringing back all the memories from our trip there in 2016. We had the best time on that trip and I have been itching to go back! If you want to you can check out some of my old Italy posts here:
What I'm Loving: The pools are open! Our pool is limited capacity for social distancing, and to tell you the truth I actually really like it that way! There's nothing worse than when the pool is overcrowded and you can't find a chair/can hardly get any space in the pool. The hours are limited so we can't go at our usual time, but we have been able to make it work.
What We've Been Up To: Easing back into "normal" life. Devin went back to work, Lily Grace's swim lessons started back up, and she even went to camp last week! Camp was a big hit-- for everyone in the family! Liam got some one-on-one time with mama, Lily Grace got to play with her friends, and Devin came home to a wife who wasn't exhausted, so he was thrilled too 😂 Devin is back to working from home again though for awhile as he had two coworkers test positive. They are okay thank goodness and didn't even know they had it-- his work is just testing people as they start coming back as a safety precaution.
From our beach trip in 2018
What I'm Excited About: My family beach trip is in a little over a week and I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!! I am so looking forward to a little extra family time and some time spent wearing the kiddos out on the beach. There are a lot of sandcastles and splashes in the pool in my near future and I am here for it!!!!
What I'm Watching/Reading: I just finished Get Out of Your Own Way... which I have to say was difficult to read as Rachel and Dave announced their divorce this month. I read the first half before they had announced it and was all on board with the ideas of how they work to strengthen their marriage, because who doesn't want a stronger marriage, right?? But then they announced they were getting divorced and all of a sudden the info seemed... I don't know, fake? I kept thinking that he wrote this book while they were going through some intense struggles in their marriage, and they are a couple who prides themselves on transparency and being honest with their followers... so it seemed "off" to publish a book that is partially about how to grow in your relationship while simultaneously struggling in their own. I don't think they owed it to their followers to tell us everything that went on behind closed doors... but maybe now wasn't the time to be writing this type of book? I don't know. I still love them both for their positive and encouraging approach to helping their followers "do life", and am wondering if maybe him writing this book during this time was his way of trying to process what was going on in his personal life? Have any of you read it? I'd love to know your thoughts on their books/podcasts and them announcing their divorce.
What I'm Listening To: I have been telling our Google Home to play a lot of Norah Jones, Jazz music, and occasionally some beach music. Google knocks it out of the park every single time!
What I'm Wearing: I'm finally beginning to wear real clothes again-- woohoo! Here are a few of the outfits I've been wearing:
Devin and I won an opportunity to have free professional pictures taken and I grabbed this jumpsuit for the pictures. We had them taken last night and I cannot wait to get them back!!
I'm a sucker for a Lilly Pulitzer romper. This one is from last year, but they have some other cute ones this year too. I love this one because it's so bright and cheery and the colors on this one would be flattering on everyone. Blondes, brunettes, lighter skin, darker skin, everyone! And then of course I still wear my Jack Rodgers knockoffs all the time.
Just your basic pocket tee and shorts here (shorts are on super sale if you need to stock up on a few pairs!), but perfect for running to the grocery store.
Still wearing this dress on repeat. This picture is old because I keep forgetting to take a new one, but I wear this dress probably once a week!
Same with this dress!
What I'm Doing This Weekend: Devin's parents are going through grandchildren withdrawals so we are planning a quick visit to see them this weekend and hopefully get a little pool and beach time in as well. Maybe even a trip or two out on the boat if we're lucky!
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: Our beach trip!!!!!!! And I'm looking forward to hopefully getting those professional pictures back just in time for our 7 year anniversary 😀
Thanks so much for stopping by today everyone! I can't wait to catch up with all of you on your blogs!

  1. I am SO GLAD to hear you say something about the Hollis Power Couple. I like them too, but my friends are SO SICK of my constantly talking about them. Their divorce is throwing me for a LOOP. My manfriend and I listened to the Rise Together podcast and discussed it for the longest time and--my gosh--I feel lied to.

    Anyway, thanks for sharing!

  2. I prefer pools when they're not crowded too... not that we have town pools here but I know what you mean. I prefer most things in like with fewer people around. LOL. Those are some super cute outfits and I hope you have a wonderful vacation.

  3. Our pool opens next week and we will only be able to sign up for a one hour time slot twice a week so that will be interesting... It's definitely the summer of learning a "new normal" for sure!

I never followed Dave or Rachel Hollis but I've read a lot about the story and I totally get how all their followers feel lied to. I am reading a lot about a huge sense of betrayal and I get that.

We're hoping to head to Europe in 2021 as well. I really hope that travel is back to normal by then. We're kind of on hold right now because we just don't know what to expect. But it's so fun to dream about big plans for next summer.

    Enjoy your beach trip!
