Health + Wellness Ideas

Last week we had our monthly Not Just a Mom post and the topic was healthy habits + staying motivated. I LOVED reading all of your ideas on how to stay healthy and motivated. I kept reading several of your posts and thinking "oh yeah, I do that too!" So today I am piggybacking off some of your ideas from last week and sharing a little bit more about my healthy habits. We could almost call this post "Healthy Habits Part 2". 😉

1. Take a multivitamin daily. I used to hate taking vitamins for the longest time. I would dread taking them and ended up avoiding them. It turns out I was just taking the wrong kind. I know these gummy ones are filled with sugar, but if it makes me look forward to taking a multivitamin every day it's worth it.

2. Drink Water! I fill this pitcher every morning with water, ice and a few slices of fruit or cucumbers. It makes my water taste delicious and makes me more likely to drink it. My favorite things to add are: cucumbers, lemon, frozen pineapple, frozen mango, or a cucumber + frozen strawberry combo. I look forward to figuring out how to make my water "fun" each day (it's the little things 😊).

3. Stretching/Light Yoga/Meditation. I try to roll out my yoga mat at some point in the day and do even just 5-10 minutes of light stretching or relaxed breathing. It is especially helpful at night for calming me down before bed.

4. Quiet Time. I love to wake up at least an hour before the kids. Some days I will head to the gym, and other days I just drink my coffee in peace and start the day slowly. It has made a tremendous difference in my mental health and stress levels throughout the day.

5. Sleep!!!! So many of you wrote about sleep and I kept thinking "how did I forget to write about that?!". I am the kind of person that needs at least 7 hours or I struggle to function. There were 3 nights in a row last week where I didn't get 7 hours of sleep, and after night 3 I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a truck. I mentioned on Monday that I always sleep with an eye mask and I really do feel it helps. Now the only thing I need help with is turning my brain off the never ending to-do list at 2 am. I'm open to suggestions if you have any 😉

Have a great day!
