Good morning everyone and happy Monday! Today the Not Just a Mom ladies are sharing our dream travel locations, and this is a post that brought me a LOT of joy to write. I LOVE daydreaming about future vacations, whether I think they'll really end up happening or not.
This is no surprise of course, but I love to travel. I love experiencing new cultures, learning how people in another country do something different from us as Americans, tasting new foods, seeing the natural beauty, etc. Honestly the list of places I want to go could be a dozen or more, but I tried to narrow it down by combining multiple stops on one trip.
Greece
There are several reasons I'd love to go to Greece. To start, the history! I am a big history buff and would love to see places like the Acropolis, the Parthenon, or any other ancient temples/ampitheaters/ruins. Just looking at pictures of these places is mind-blowing to me, I cannot imagine the awe I would feel to see them in person. How, with the technology they had during those times, were they able to construct such large, beautiful, intricately carved, well-designed buildings that have lasted centuries?
I also love the white buildings with the blue accents, how beautiful and clear the water is, the warm weather, the food... I mean really, what's not to love here?Croatia/Slovenia/Northern Italy
This was the trip we had originally planned to take in 2022, but we ended up going to Ireland. We absolutely loved Ireland and it was a fantastic trip to take the kids on, but I don't think the kids would be ready for Croatia/Slovenia/Italy anytime soon. So it is still on my bucket list, just pushed back a few years.
We were really looking forward to the delicious food, the natural beauty, and the beautiful architecture.
Geirangerfjord, Norway
and some of the beautiful waterfalls...
Bergen, Norway
I guess I'll have to go during the winter to see the Northern Lights, and the summer to see everything else. 😊
Switzerland/Austria
Lauterbrunnen, SwitzerlandEveryone I know who has been to either Switzerland or Austria has said they are some of the most beautiful places they've ever seen.
Grindelwald, Switzerland
Beautiful waterfalls, hiking, funiculars to ride to the top of the mountains, etc.
An Overwater Bungalow
I've heard they have these in the Caribbean now, which would make for a much quicker flight! I don't mind a long flight, but Devin is quick to point out that the longer we are on the plane, the less time we are spending at our destination... which is true I guess. I don't really care where my overwater bungalow is, I would just love to stay in one at some point.

Those are just a few of the places I'd love to go, but I feel like I was just scratching the surface today. This list could've been 20+ long if I had kept going! The places I listed are all international, but there are a lot of spots within the US I'd love to see too (or see again, but with the kids).
Here are a few other spots on my list:
- Hawaii
Fun fact: my younger sister lived here for 4 years while in college in Honolulu, and Devin's dad lived here in the 1970's for a year while working for United Airlines. It is one of our dreams to live here for at least 6 months to a year when we retire. We've been multiple times, but it never gets old.
- Glacier National Park, Montana
Some of our best friends are really outdoorsy and have told us Glacier is their favorite national park. They've been multiple times and say they find new beautiful spots every time.
- Yosemite National Park
I went with my family in middle school and still remember the beauty of this park. I cannot wait to take Devin and our kids here one day!
I can't wait to read what is on all of your lists!! I bet you all have some really cool spots you'd love to visit too. If you are a blogger, be sure to link up with us today and to come back next month too! Next month the Not Just a Mom crew are sharing our family food traditions.
I have a lot of the same places on my list - Greece, a bungalow, Yosemite - although I don't think I wrote that one on my post! And some of these make me want to see them when I didn't realize I should have wanted to! Like Switzerland!
ReplyDeleteThat's how I felt reading through everyone's posts today! Like I there were so many places I hadn't thought to add!
DeleteAdding Norway to my list! So many places to explore.
ReplyDeleteAgreed-- so many places!
DeleteWe have a lot of the same places.
ReplyDeleteYes! I love that you put Disney on yours-- Disney is always on my list too!
DeleteI would love to go to Greece! I should have added that to my list!
ReplyDeleteI love all these destinations especially Greece and Norway!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about long flights! I want to go there but I don't want to spend 3 or 4 days of my week's vacation in an airport or on a plane to get there. All these photos are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these destinations and would enjoy each one. We are headed to Italy/Germany/Austria soon and I can't wait!
