Book Club-- August

Good Morning! I'm so excited to share my books for the month with you because I read some REALLY great ones and can't wait to recommend them to you. This month I read 4 books and really liked them all! Let's get started...

For all my other teacher friends out there, this book was great to read right before the new school year kicked off. The Wild Card is a sweet inspiring book that helps to get your creative juices flowing again (which was needed after some time off for summer!) It was also great to hear a little more backstory on a blogger (Hope King) that I've been following for years. Fellow teachers, if you don't know Hope yet you have to check out her blog, it's incredible!

The next book I read this month was Small Admissions by Amy Poeppel. This book was a perfect beach read-- it was quick, easy, and laugh out loud funny. There were several moments on the beach when I was laughing while reading it and my family would ask what was so funny. Some of the characters were easier to relate to that others, but that's most books right? I really recommend this one! Especially to any other teachers out there-- I feel like you'll have a different outlook towards some of the helicopter parents. :)

The next book I read was hand down my favorite and I've already bought it for 3 people I know who are going through a big life change right now. You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero is such a motivating book for anyone who is going through a major change and may feel a little bit nervous about it. It is all about how to be confident in yourself as you are, and how important it is to know that being uniquely yourself will help you to succeed in life. My sister is going through a career change and is back in school right now. She was so nervous to try something completely different from her previous career and was hesitant to make the change. I bought this for her and cannot wait for her to read it. :) One of my best girlfriends got a new job recently and someone in her family bought this book for her as she goes through this change... it is such a positive, inspiring book-- perfect for anyone who needs that in their life right now!

Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by [Hollis, Rachel]

And then finally, I feel like I was the last person on Earth to read Girl, Wash Your Face and I'm not exaggerating, this book was life changing. Rachel Hollis feels like that friend who is telling you what you NEED to hear but don't WANT to hear, but she says it in just the right way. I listen to her podcasts now too and they are so inspiring. If you haven't listened to her Rise podcast or Rise Together, you should check them out!

What about you? Have you read anything lately that you'd recommend?

  3. I read a good 8 books this past month and my favorite was actually a young adult novel called Salt to the Sea. It took place during World War II and I learned so much about another side of the war that I had not heard of before.
