Book Club-- January

It's one of my favorite days of the month... book club day! I am such an avid reader and love having the opportunity to share some of the books I've read with you all. ESPECIALLY when you recommend more good ones in the comments! Here are the books I read this month:

The Traitor's Wife by Allison Pataki. This book is about Peggy Shippen, the wife of famous traitor Benedict Arnold. It was exceptionally well written and full of interesting twists and turns. Allison Pataki is an impressive storyteller who clearly did her research for this book. If you love history, especially American history, I recommend this book.
The Pub Across the Pond
Another book I read this month was The Pub Across the Pond. This book was about a girl who lives in Ohio but wins a pub in Ireland through a raffle. It is a sweet story about starting over somewhere new and the main character finding more confidence in herself. There also happens to be a love interest 😉. If you like cheesy and sweet, this would be right up your alley. It felt like the book version of a Hallmark movie.
Behind Closed Doors
My next book, Behind Closed Doors, was REALLY good, but REALLY dark. This was a thriller from the very beginning and had my heart pounding as I read it. This is about a couple who seems perfect on the outside, but has some very serious issues that go on "behind closed doors". If you likes Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Woman in Cabin 10, or anything similar then I think you would like this book.
The Bikini Body 28-Day Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Guide: 200 Recipes and Weekly Menus to Kick Start Your Journey
And the last book I read this month was technically a cookbook, but I read this thing cover to cover and have tried dozens of recipes from it already! I originally checked it out at the library but then ended up buying it because I know I will use it often and for years to come. This is an entire book of HEALTHY recipes that are still delicious. Kayla explains her philosophy about still eating carbs and enjoying all the foods you normally enjoy, just how to do it right. You all know how much I love Kayla the creator of BBG! If you are looking for some healthy new recipes to try for 2019, I highly recommend this book.

  1. I tried reading The Traitor's Wife a few years ago when Kathy Lee Gifford recommended it, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I should try again. Right now I'm reading My Dear Hamilton about Alexander Hamilton's wife. It's good so far.

  2. I have the Pub one on my list to read because of you! I am two chapters into The Favorite Sister and I'm really struggling with even wanting to finish it - I rarely stop reading a book but I think I'm going to phone it in. Everybody, Always by Bob Goff is my next one to read!
