Hilton Head Island Beach Trip

Good morning everyone and happy Friday! We are back from our annual trip to Hilton Head and I have to say, I think I was more grateful than ever before to have a chance to get away. The COVID numbers were rising on the island of Hilton Head (at home as well) so we pretty much stuck to the beach, the grocery store, and grabbed takeout from a few restaurants. Exactly what we do here, except with a beach to play at! Here's a look at our trip:

We drove down on Friday afternoon and arrived just before dinner. My parents and younger sister were already there so they had dinner waiting for us and we ate out by the beach. After dinner Lily Grace and my dad, "Pop Pop", went to go jump some waves.
There was a lot of hanging out and playing by the beach or the pool
A lot of morning bike rides...

and runs on the beach...
followed by some delicious smoothies.
We were up for sunrise on the beach almost every day. The downside perk of having young kids.

We attempted to grab some family pictures on the beach using my DSLR, tripod, and self timer. We had to take approximately 100 pictures to end up with maybe 10 good ones šŸ˜‚. This ever happen to anyone else? Pictures with young kids are hard!!

I was able to finish one book (White Fragility) and begin another (The Librarian of Auschwitz... incredible so far!)
We rode our bikes to go get donuts and coffee at Dunkin Donuts. We are addicts, I tell you! Send help!
And Devin and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary!
All in all it was an amazing trip and we were so grateful for our kids to have a chance to run around and safely play somewhere that wasn't our backyard. Devin and I were joking about temporarily moving to the beach since he's working from home for awhile anyway. If only it were that easy!

This weekend Devin has a guy's camping trip in the mountains so the kids and I are headed to Blowing Rock to spend some more time with my parents and hide out from the heat. It's supposed to be 95ish and rainy here in Charlotte... no thank you!! The mountains are looking like upper 70's, so I'll take it! I hope you all have a safe, wonderful, happy, fun-filled weekend. Thank you so much for reading along!

Today I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea for Friday Favorites. Have a great weekend!!

  1. Aw, happy anniversary! What beautiful sunrises-- I just love sunrises and sunsets on the beach; those are my two favorite times to be out there.

  3. Happy anniversary! We celebrated our anniversary a few weeks ago by road tripping to San Diego. It was so nice just to change things up! Looks like you guys had a blast. :)

  4. Looks beautiful! I'm so bummed we don't live driving distance to the ocean, we had to cancel our vacation last month and I have FOMO seeing everyone social distancing safely on the beach!
