Monthly Goals-- July

Good morning everyone! I hope your July has been off to a great start. We are still at the beach and are having a blast soaking up the sun. I wanted to pop on and share my goals for the upcoming month because you ladies help to keep me accountable! This month is going to fly by because we have two weeks at the beach, then have family coming in town for Liam's rescheduled baptism. He was supposed to be baptized in March, but then everything shut down due to COVID and we had to reschedule. Here's hoping we are still able to do it 🙏.

Here's a look at my goals for the month:
1. Keep up with running!! I have gotten back into running and it feels SO good to be back. I try to run 3 days a week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I try to run 4 miles on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and then 6+ on Saturdays. My new favorite thing is to wake up early enough to catch the sunrise as I'm running. Here's a view from one of my runs on our trip to visit Devin's parents last week:
I always have so much more energy after my morning runs and feel so much better physically throughout the week when I'm running.
2. Drink my water- With the summer months being as hot as they are, I am noticing I need to drink more water than usual. I get dehydrated pretty quickly.
I use my infused water pitcher daily and that seems to help, but I've noticed if I don't drink some in the morning then I end up chugging a bunch of water at the end of the day--- which leads to multiple bathroom trips in the night. Nobody wants that!
3. Read 3 Books- I am hoping to get back into reading a bit more at night. I took a break from reading as much as I usually do and ended up finding I missed it! I think I need a good fiction thriller to get me back into the swing of it. One of those can't-put-it-down kind of books.
4. Practice Using My Nikon- Ladies, I have had this stinking Nikon DSLR camera for years with the best intentions of learning how to properly use it. I go through phases of getting more comfortable with it but then I put it away and get so intimidated picking it back up again. It's a lot to learn and remember. My goal is to pick it back up this month and spend a little time with it every day. I think it's one of those things that I'll get better at with more practice.

Thanks for reading along today! See you back here tomorrow for a recipe!

  1. I have been so awful about using my Nikon DSLR that I got for Christmas.. in fact I changed a setting a few weeks ago and now it just blinks at me and won't even take photos! LOL. I have to read up on how to reset those settings and I just keep using my phone instead. I had promised myself I was only going to use my new camera for a few months until I had mastered it and I have SO dropped the ball on that one!

    1. I know, it's so intimidating and the phone cameras are just so much easier!! I'm determine to figure more of it out this summer-- even if only just a little bit!

  2. I've never thought to put strawberries in to make infused water! I am going to try that. Do you run on the beach? I'm jealous of the beach and ocean! Hopefully, my family can still make our trip to California in November. I need to get out of Kansas!

    1. If I run on the beach I definitely don't time myself/worry about needing to take a break to walk. Running in the sand is SO much harder! I hope you still get your beach trip!
