Fun and Unique Date Ideas with Date Architect

Good morning everyone and happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week. We had a taste of fall weather around here and I am HERE.FOR.IT! Give me all things apple/pumpkin/fall please! Today I wanted to talk to you about one of my new favorite companies that I think you'll love too: Date Architect.

Devin and I have been trying to make more of an effort to spend some good quality time together. We realized we had gotten into the rut of work/raise kids all day, cook dinner, the bath time/bedtime shuffle, and then we were completely exhausted and just collapsed on the couch at the end of the day. It felt like the "parent" side of us had taken over and the "spouse" side of us had been put on the back burner. Sound familiar? I know we aren't the only ones out there 😉.

So we decided something needed to change-- and decided to try instituting a weekly date night. That doesn't always mean we go out once a week, but that we try to do something unique and get some good quality time together... not just binge watching TV on the couch after the kids go to bed!

A recent date night-- dinner at a restaurant.

After a couple weeks in a row of doing the same thing week after week on date night (see picture above), we needed something new and fresh. Enter Date Architect. Date Architect is a company started by an adorable newlywed, Ashlyn, who wanted to find new and creative ways to continue to "date" her spouse after marriage. She started creating some fun dates for her and her husband to enjoy and then realized other people might enjoy trying them too! Thus, Date Architect was born!

Devin and I have tried two of their dates so far and have had a BLAST. Ya'll we have been together for 10 years (married 7 and dating 3), and were still learning new things about each other on these dates! I don't want to give away too much information about these dates because that wouldn't be fair to Ashlyn, who put all the work into creating them. If you are interested though I highly recommend clicking over to her website and checking them out.

The first Date Architect date we tried was the Progressive Dinner. Just like a traditional progressive dinner, you have each course at a different location. Due to COVID-19, we decided to grab takeout from 3 different restaurants and eat our takeout in 3 different locations around Charlotte. What's so fun and different about this is that Ashlyn gives you a game to play while on the date. We decided that whoever was in the lead at the end of each course got to pick where we went next-- it was a blast!

We started the night with Japanese food for our appetizer. The restaurant is in a busy shopping center so while we were waiting on our takeout to be ready, we played the corresponding game in the car. We are both pretty competitive and we were laughing so hard trying to "win". We each wanted to be the person who chose our next course!!

We took our food to a nearby park and ate/continued to play. There was a little league baseball game nearby and we ended up watching some of it-- it was adorable! We are both big sports fans and have missed going to sporting events lately. You know you miss it when you watch a random little league game 😂 By the end of our appetizer, Devin was in the lead so he got to choose our next course/location. He chose.... Italian food!

We grabbed our Italian takeout and drove to Devin's location-- the top of the Target parking deck 😂. It sounds silly, but do you see this view? Wedding photographers take their clients up here to get pictures of the city skyline in the background. They're obviously much better at angles/cropping than I am! We continued to play the game and yours truly took the lead! Meaning course 3 was up to me! We ended up grabbing fro-yo and walking around some cute neighborhoods. It was perfect. Fro-yo is a two hand kind of food, so sorry for the lack of pictures!

What I loved so much about this date was that it made us think outside the box of "traditional dinner date". I like that we each ended up picking something we wanted to do/a place we wanted to go. And the game Ashlyn had us playing brought out our competitive nature and had us cracking up. It was a GREAT night!

Fast forward to our next Date Architect date night-- Breakfast and Bingo. Just like the last date, there was a theme and a game to play as you go along. This time we decided to do this date at home. We made a full brunch feast: pastries, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit/yogurt parfaits, etc. We had the works!

We decided this worked for our family because we knew the kids would love having Brinner too!

As the kids were playing after dinner and we were cleaning up, we played one of the two corresponding games for this date. It was a fun twist on some "get to know you better" questions, and this one was my FAVORITE! It was so fun to  ask/answer some questions about things we had never discussed before. I learned new things about Devin I never knew before this date-- I LOVED it!!

After we put the kiddos to bed, we played the second corresponding game: Bingo with a Twist. I don't want to give away what the twist is, but once again, we were cracking up!

I love Date Architect's dates for several reasons, but mostly because:

- They are genuinely a lot of FUN!

- The ideas are unique and creative, yet all the time consuming stuff has already been done for you-- you just get to download the PDF, read the directions and enjoy!

- You can fit these dates into any budget. Have over $100 to spend? You can do that. Trying to save a little? You can easily do that too. You make them work for you!

- These dates can be done out on the town, or at home. If you aren't able to afford a babysitter every week, or aren't able to find a babysitter every week-- try one of them at home like we did! I promise you we had every bit as much fun doing Breakfast and Bingo at home.

If you're looking for something new and fun to try with your spouse/significant other, I cannot recumbent Date Architect enough! Click on over to her website and check out the different packages they have available, there has to be something that works for you!

Today I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. Have a great weekend!!

  1. They sound like such fun ideas! My husband and I have been together since we were 16 and I often think there isn't much more I can know about him but I love to buy little question booklets for us every now and then.. it is so much fun and often gets us laughing and talking.

    1. I love hearing that! It's amazing to think there are still things to be learned even when you've known someone for this long!
