Not Just a Mom-- Getting Crafty

Good morning friends and happy Monday! Today we have our monthly "Not Just a Mom" post and the theme is "Getting Crafty". While I know the entire point of this is our lives as Not Just a Mom, if I'm being honest, I get my crafty side out through my kids these days, so they're included in today's post. 😊

We really do love some good arts & crafts around here and we just so happened to be working on our Halloween cards over the weekend-- so I'm going to share them today! Each year I love to have the kids help make some homemade cards to send out to friends and family. In 2018 Lily Grace made these:

In 2019 both kiddos "made" these:

I traced Liam's handprint to make spiders and LG's to make bats. Then LG decorated the rest with stickers.

And this year the kiddos made these:

They aren't 100% finished yet, but getting there! Can you tell what they are?? 😉 Lily Grace drew a monster next to her footprint ghost and now has to add some Halloween stickers.

I love to try to get a handprint/footprint for each craft because the kids are growing and changing so quickly. I always keep an extra copy for each kid and put it in their baby books as a keepsake. We love to look back through them!

Other than our annual Halloween cards, we have arts and crafts time in our house almost daily. Lily Grace loves to do her art on the porch when the weather is nice.

Or right now, in our current home while we are having our home renovated, we have turned the sunroom into an "art studio". She comes out here to paint or color most days while I am making dinner.

As for Liam, he is still in the stage of trying to put everything in his mouth... so art isn't really his thing yet 😀

Lily Grace comes by her love for art honestly. I have always loved spending some time doing something creative, and go through different periods of what inspires me creatively. The past 2+ years my creative outlet has been blogging (which I have obviously loved!).

Prior to that though, I was on a big kick of going to get old furniture at Goodwill/Habitat for Humanity Restore and trying to upcycle it. In fact, the furniture in Lily Grace's room right now is upcycled old furniture. I am beating myself up that I don't have a picture of it right now and can't go take one because it's not really visible due to the renovation-- sorry!!

I am hoping to get back into that again one day. There is something about upcycling something old that just feels good for my soul 😊 What about you? What do you like to do to express yourself creatively?

I hope you all are able to link up with us today! Next month we are talking about holiday shopping-- I hope to see you come back then too!

I hope you all have a great day today! See you back here on Wednesday.
