Monthly Goals: December

Well today is December 2nd which means it is the beginning of a new month. I love the beginning of a new month for a fresh start and a chance to try new things. As you all know, I love to set goals for myself each month and they usually go towards helping me reach some more long term goals for myself. So today we will have a look at December's goals, but first let's check out November:

1. Start Back Up with the Gratitude Journal-- YES!! I started my gratitude journal a year or two ago and really loved it, but was so tired at the end of the day and it felt like "one more thing" to do. I got away from it but was determined to bring it back this month and I'm so happy I did! I actually started including it in my daily quiet time for the morning. Each morning I make my cup of coffee and reflect on what went well the previous day. I write them in my journal and then think about what I can do to make the current day go smoothly as well. I wrote about it a little bit on Monday because it's a part of my new hygge routine, which I recently read about.
2. Train for and Run the Turkey Trot- YES!! It has felt so nice to have something official to train for again. Now life during COVID times is still kinda up in the air, and I don't have access to childcare at the gym for both kiddos so I didn't get every single training session in, but I did well enough and completed the race. I'm so so happy I did this.
3. Do 3 Planks Daily- NOPE. I did okay with this but definitely missed several days, especially around Thanksgiving. I mean I really have no excuse for this since it's only 3 minutes of my day. I found that if I got it over with in the morning, I was more likely to get it done. If I put it off, it wouldn't happen. Which is how I am with most things actually 😊
4. Read 4 Books- YES!! Some really good ones too. I wrote about them on Monday
5. Have Christmas Cards Ordered By Thanksgiving- YES! I waited until literally the day before Thanksgiving, but whatever.. it still counts!
6. Purchase a Majority of Gifts by the End of the Month- YES! This is such a relief to have most things already purchased and wrapped. One less thing to have to do later this month!

And now for my upcoming goals this month:
1. Get Back Into Yoga-- I love yoga and have been practicing off and on for 13 years. I love that it is not only a physical exercise, but one that is good for your mental well-being as well. I always come away from yoga feeling more grounded and a happier version of myself. My favorite studio is still doing online classes so I am planning to do those at least twice a week.
2. Do At Least One Fun/Festive Activity with the Kids Per Week-- This might mean check out Christmas lights, make gingerbread cookies, see Santa (we have a friend willing to dress up as Santa so we can safely meet him this year), or do a Christmas craft. I want to do all the fun things we can! It's "the most wonderful time of the year" for a reason.
3. Read 4 Books-- Technically I need to read 7 in order to meet my goal for the year, but I don't see that happening! I think 4 is realistic. If somehow I am able to breeze through more than that, I'll count it as an added bonus.
4. Have the Kids Make Handprint/Homemade Ornaments-- My mom used to have us make an ornament each year and they were some of our favorites to look at year after year. I want my kids to have the same fun memories, so this year we will be adding to our stash of homemade ornaments.
5. Watch Christmas Movies with the Kids-- We usually try to go see either the Nutcracker or A Christmas Carol every year, but that obviously isn't happening this year. I think this year we can try to watch one of those as a movie at home and then pick the usual tradition back up next year. We may also add some other classic kids Christmas movies in there too-- like Frosty the Snowman or the Grinch.

So that's it! What are you guys doing this month? Any goals you've set for yourself? Or any fun plans you have with your families??

  1. Such fun goals for the month! We are doing a DIY advent calendar that we have done the last couple years with my girl to get all the christmas things knocked out - one per day! well, that is except for the days we are busy and then she gets a piece of candy! LOL so glad you guys are meeting Santa safely! Daddy dressed up like santa last week for Millie to meet him and it was screaming/crying and everything I could have dreamed of lol! So glad we aren't missing out on those traditions just because this year is a little different :)
