Monthly Goals-- December

“Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.” ~L.R. Knost
Just a little something sweet to (hopefully) brighten your day.

Before we get to my December goals, let's take a look at how the November goals went down... YIKES! This was NOT my month!

1. Put x amount in savings-- This one did NOT happen this month. We spent a little more than we planned to while we were on our trip to Bali, but I honestly wouldn't change that. That was a once in a lifetime trip and we wanted to do everything we could while we were there. I am happy we chose to experience everything we could rather than pinching pennies while we were over there. That AND our dishwasher broke so we bought a new one. Not a good month for us savings wise!
2. Meet Fitbit goal 5 days a week-- Nope! Ya'll, I even lowered my goal so it would be easier to meet and it STILL didn't happen. Woops! There's always next month, right?
3. Read 3 books-- This one I actually did accomplish-- woohoo! We had a lot of time to read on those long flights to Bali, and luckily I had downloaded quite a few books in advance. I'll post my Book Club post later this week.
4. Have Christmas cards ordered before Thanksgiving-- This one I accomplished as well, thank goodness! I ordered the cards before we left for our trip and they were here waiting for me when we got back. They were already addressed (thanks to the free addressing from Shutterfly!), so I just had to stuff them into the envelopes, seal them and put on a stamp. Easy peasey!
5. Meet Fitbit water goal-- This one was hit or miss. I can't say I met it every day, but I did probably 5 times per week, so not terrible. I noticed if I had a glass or two when I first woke up, it was much easier to meet my goal by the end of the day. On the days I didn't have water right away, I would forget until I had a headache mid-afternoon. We will count this one as a work in progress.

And now let's take a look at the month of December:

1. Read 2 Books-- One of my New Year's Resolutions for 2018 was to read 38 books (I read 37 last year and wanted to see if I could do more). So far this year I have read 36, so I only need to do 2 more this month. With the holiday season being as crazy as it is, I think only reading 2 books this month sounds pretty realistic.

2. Have all gifts purchased and wrapped by 12/15-- I love having all of the "stressful" parts of the holiday season over and done with so we can relax and have fun for the remainder of the season.

3. Start BBG Again-- The Bikini Body Guides (BBG) exercise program on the Sweat app is truly the only thing that got me back to my pre-baby weight. I was eating healthy, trained for and ran a FULL MARATHON and was still 10 pounds heavier than I was pre-baby. I started this exercise program this past spring and it made the world of a difference. Then, I stopped doing it and started eating junk again. I decided I needed to put a stop to those bad habits before they got worse, so while it seems weird to start a new exercise program in December instead of January, I'm going for it. FYI the Sweat app allows me to send one free month to friends via email, so if anyone is interested in trying the app for free for a month, comment with your email address below. I definitely recommend this app!

4. Relax and Enjoy the Holiday Season-- it is so easy to get stressed this time of year. We have way too much going on with holiday cards, shopping, wrapping, parties, various programs to go to at school and outside of school and more. I'm going to try to make an active effort to RELAX and just have fun. I'm not sure that an entirely stress-free holiday is realistic because I'm me and, according to Devin, even when I have nothing to stress out over I will find something to stress out over (admittedly this is 100% true). But I'm going to TRY.

That's December. Have a great day!

  1. You didn't do so bad!! I'm just like you, hit or miss on the water goal. Some days I do so well, and other days I just feel like I'm not thirsty. Totally agree that if you get a glass or two first thing in the morning it's a lot easier! Happy December!
