Good Morning and happy Friday! Today I am linking up with Erika for Friday Favorites and I am sharing one of my BIGGEST favorites over the past week: Devin's birthday!
Crowder's Mountain, NC
Devin (my husband, in case you're new around here!) turned 31 last week and on Saturday we celebrated with a group of friends by hiking one of the nearby mountains: Crowder's Mountain. It was a gorgeous day, 75 and not a cloud in the sky. Perfect for hiking! We woke up, grabbed some bagel sandwiches from our favorite place, Poppy's, and headed towards the mountain at about 8:45 am. Crowder's is about a 45 minute drive from Charlotte, so we arrived around 9:30. We started our 1.5 hour trek up the mountain!
Lily Grace taking a break from her hiking backpack
Here she is "hiking" with me and our friend Allie
Lily Grace bounced back and forth between riding in her hiking backpack and then "hiking" along with us. She was such a trooper and did a great job hanging in there! She loves playing outside and exploring nature, so this was right up her alley.
"Hiking" with Dev.
A few of my friends were a little nervous/cautious about me doing the hike while pregnant, but I just knew when to take breaks/slow down. Luckily our group of friends were very understanding of letting me set the pace. If I needed to go a little slower, everyone went slower. For the most part though I hung in there and went at a normal pace! The hike is considered a "moderate" difficulty level and is 2.8 miles long... it felt great to get some good exercise!
We made it up to the top of Crowder's to see the gorgeous view.
If you look closely, you can see the skyline of Charlotte!
We snagged a group picture at the top, and then began the much easier trek back down!
Lily Grace was a little worn out from all her "hiking" so she took a little cat nap in her backpack on the way back down.
It was the perfect way to spend a morning with friends. After the hike, everyone went back home to rest and then we met up at a friends house for dinner later that night. It was the perfect way to spend a day!
A lot of my friends were asking about Lily Grace's hiking backpack... we actually share it with a friend. She has two daughters, one who is 3.5 and the other is 8 months. So since right now her girls are not within the right age range to use the backpack, we are using it. By the time her littlest one gets big enough for it, Lily Grace will be too big and our new baby will be too small, so their family will get the backpack back! It works for us to not have to each buy one when we can only use it for such a limited time due to our daughters age ranges. Ours is from REI but I can't find the exact model anymore since it's a few years old. This one is really similar though and the reviews look great. If your family loves being outdoors and hiking/walking/exploring, I highly recommend getting one.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! See you back here on Monday for "What I've Been Priming"!
