The Best Homemade Guacamole

Good morning friends! I thought I'd share with you one of our favorite things to make around here, and a staple recipe in most houses I'm sure... homemade guacamole. We are bbbiiiiiigggg Mexican food fans around here and have learned a thing or two about how to make the perfect guacamole. Today I'll share my recipe and secret tip for how to get the most flavor possible out of your guac.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup red onion, chopped
1 jalapeño, chopped (you can use less if that's too hot)
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 ripe avocados
a handful of cherry tomatoes, chopped
sea salt (I use Trader Joe's and swear by it-- which sounds weird for a salt shaker, but if you've had it you know what I'm talking about!)
pepper
1 tbs olive oil

Preheat skillet to medium high and add a tablespoon of olive oil once hot. Once the olive oil is hot, add the red onionjalapeño, and garlic to the skillet and sauté for a 3-4 minutes to get the flavors to liven up. While these ingredients are cooking, now is the time to mash up your avocados in a medium sized bowl. Add your chopped tomatoes and stir in with a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the heated ingredients to your mashed avocados and mix in. Add more salt depending on your preference.

That's our quick and simple recipe, I swear once you start sautéing those first three ingredients together you won't go back!

I actually came across the little sautéing secret by accident because the only red onion and jalapeño we had were previously chopped and frozen. I knew they would make my guac taste better and figured it was worth a shot to try reheating them before adding them, and the secret was born!
Enjoy!
