Top 5 Books of 2019

Good morning friends and happy Friday! Am I the only one who is looking forward to getting back into a routine next week? We have been traveling and hosting friends/family over the past two weeks and while I have loved it, I'm ready for normal life again!

Anyway, here we are in the year 2020 and one of my New Year's Resolutions (which I'll post next week) is to read 40 books. Why 40? Because I read 39 in 2019 and I want to see if I can read more this year 😀. Out of the 39 books I read last year there were some REALLY great ones. I wanted to put together a list of my top 5 books and then a few honorable mentions from various categories. Here we go!

Where the Crawdads Sing-- This book was phenomenal! I read that Reese Witherspoon's production company is in the process of turning this into a movie and I CANNOT wait for it to come out!
The Tattooist of Auschwitz-- This book is one that will stay with me forever. I loved that the main characters in this book managed to stay optimistic and think positively throughout their nightmare at Auschwitz. Somehow through the horror of what they went through, they focused on their love for each other and survived. This book was both heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
Educated-- This book was a powerful true story of how much adversity one woman was able to overcome. I'm sure you've seen this one on every blog, at every bookstore, on every best seller list... and for good reason! This book was very moving.
Lost Roses-- This was a recent read but one that I felt strongly enough about to add it to my top 5 list. I LOVE historical fiction and I especially love learning more about a time period I am less familiar with. This book took place around the time of WW1 and also focused on the Russian Revolution and what happened to Russian aristocracy post-Revolution. If you love historical fiction, do yourself a favor and add this to your list!
The Happiness Advantage-- This eye-opening book was about the incredible power of positive thinking. I've always known that optimism and thinking positively could impact your life, I just didn't know how much it could impact your life. This book was the final push I needed to start my daily gratitude journal, therefore making it the book that has had the biggest impact on my life this year by far.

There were several other books I loved this year and wanted to give them "honorable mention" status. I broke them down into genres just in case you are in the mood for a specific genre.

Nonfiction:

Chick-Lit:

Thriller/Suspense:

Historical Fiction:

You all are always so good at leaving me feedback and other recommendations, so I'd love to know what your favorite books of the year were! Please feel free to leave me a comment of a book you think I should add to my list for 2020.
Today I am linking up with Erika and Andrea for Friday Favorites. Have a great weekend!

    1. I've read all of those except The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek! Adding it to my list now, thank you!! The Nightingale is one of my favorite books of all time. They're making a movie out of it! I think Dakota Fanning and her sister are supposed to play the sisters!

  5. These are very good suggestion to read. Two of them were already completed. Hope that, publisher will able to sell more books. I prefer to read on the device rather on paper back. Publisher should think about online release.
