Life Lately

Hi friends! Today I wanted to share a brief update with you about what we've been up to. As most of you know, we did a lot of local (but safe!) travel in the beginning of July. It worked wonders on improving our overall mood/sanity/mental health to have something different to do than the same old stuff at the same old house day in and day out.

So then we came home and spent the next 2 weeks at our house, which was GREAT (it was like a whole new house again since we were refreshed!). That being said when my in laws said they were getting cabin fever and wanted us to come for a visit, we couldn't have jumped in the car faster 😀. It helps that they live near the beach and we knew we would have a bunch of different opportunities for "activities" with the kids. I am beyond grateful that Devin's job is flexible with his hours and understands that he may be sending e-mails at 5 am or 10 pm rather than typical 9-5. As long as he's getting it done, they don't really care when.

So let's have a look at what we've been up to!

Our first morning there we swam and swam and swam in their pool all morning long. Lily Grace has turned into a really good swimmer this summer! She isn't completely independent yet, we still have to get in there with her and help when she gets tired, but she has made some big strides! It's amazing to think she just started swim lessons in January (then had to take 3 months off when everything shut down). She goes roughly once a week for a half hour, and it is WORKING!
Our proud little swimmer 😍
And the happiest baby on Earth 😀. He just wanted to splash around in his floaty for hours on end.
Lily Grace and Liam got to swim with their great grandmother, who is about to turn 90 years old. She normally lives in Florida but has been living with my in-laws for the past several weeks once the numbers in Florida started rising significantly.
Then after a full morning of swimming, Lily Grace just couldn't muster the strength to make it in the house for lunch. This picture cracks me up because I swear this is how I feel some days!

The next day was spent at the beach. Lots of sandcastles were built...

And a killer nap was taken inside the beach tent.

Then that night Devin and I got to sneak away for a little date. We obviously have to be super careful because we were around Devin's grandma, so we grabbed some takeout from one of our favorite restaurants and headed to the beach for a picnic. We went at the perfect time, there was almost nobody there!
We love getting to steal away for a little one-on-one time whenever we can and this night was exactly what we needed. I posted on Instagram asking ya'll for COVID safe date night ideas and you had some really good suggestions!! I loved them! I may do a post with all of your suggestions next week.
The following day we left Liam behind with my in laws and Dev and I took Lily Grace kayaking on the Intracoastal. This may go down in the record books as one of my favorite days of my life. It was simple, but absolutely perfect. We loved getting out in nature, getting some exercise in, and letting Lily Grace play.
We saw a lot of birds, fish, and several crabs. Lily Grace's favorite was the "big crab".

We pulled over at a little island and let her hop out and swim/run around/play. She was having the time of her life.
Then we kayaked back to where we parked our car.
And Lily Grace played in the shallow water for another 20 minutes or so while Devin and I relaxed in the shade.
It was the perfect day! Now we are home and back to "normal" life again for a little while.

Thanks for following along today! I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. I hope you all have a great weekend!!
