What I've Been Priming-- July

Good morning friends and happy Monday! I hope you all had a good weekend. We did a whole bunch of nothing over the weekend and it was great! We played a lot in the backyard, had a friend over for dinner on Saturday, and went for a long family walk on Sunday. It wasn't much, but it was exactly what we needed it to be. 😊
It is officially August-- woohoo!! It is the first August in 12 years that I am not preparing to go back to school as a teacher and I have ALL the mixed feelings about it! Is it nice to not be stressed? Absolutely. Do I get slightly emotional when I see the school supplies aisle at Walmart/Target and know that I'm not going back? You bet. What is it with teachers and school supplies?!? Why does it get us every time??

Anyway, let's have a quick look back at my Amazon purchases in July. I grabbed a couple new things that you might like too!
ColorBlock T Shirt-- I saw this on Ashley's blog a few weeks ago and knew I had to have it! This shirt is the perfect casual-but-still-cute shirt to wear out and about doing errands. It is super soft, comfy, and inexpensive. They have it in several colors and I almost grabbed it in blue and red too!
National Geographic Atlas of the National Parks-- You guys the pictures in this book are INCREDIBLE!!! I cannot stress to you enough how beautiful these pictures are. We all know National Geographic is famous for the photographs they take and this book lives up to their reputation. My sister and her family are planning a trip out West to Yellowstone next year and are taking an RV. They've been so excited about their trip and have been telling us all about it that now my parents are planning their own trip to see some of the National Parks they've never seen before. My mom has been checking out dozens of books (dozens, literally!) from the library about the National Parks and showed me this one. I could not stop "oohing" and "aahing" over the pictures. Well, fast forward to a couple weeks later when we celebrated Liam's Baptism (yay!) and Liam's godfather (one of our very close friends) is a big traveler and nature lover. He has been to several of the National Parks and I wanted to get him a little something as a "thank you" for being our son's godfather. I grabbed him this book and wrote inside "We can't wait for Liam to get to explore some of these places with his godfather (and family!) in tow". His godfather loved it and now I'm wishing I had bought one for us to have too!
High Waisted Swimsuit Bottom-- After searching all over the internet for a high waisted swimsuit bottom that was in my size and not finding one, I was beginning to get frustrated. I finally thought "you know what, let me just check Amazon and see if they have one" and of course they did-- it's Amazon, they have everything. Not only did they have one, but it was super cheap too!
Kauai Coffee-- More of this coffee-- we just can't get enough of this stuff! It's the best. The only bad thing about this is that it's so good I end up drinking 2-3 cups a day of it... even when I probably don't need it! We need to start looking into finding it in bigger bags/bulk sizes because we go through a lot of coffee. I saw this on Pinterest and laughed because it pretty much sums up daily life around here:
I'll take any excuse to grab another cup 😀
Nest Thermostat-- Earlier last month we got a notice in the mail from our electric company more or less telling us that our home could be more efficient in the way we use electricity. According to our notice from Duke Energy, we used most of our electricity on cooling our home (as I'm sure most homes do, especially during these summer months). We did a little more research into how we could use less electricity to cool our home and Devin stumbled across the Nest Thermostat. It is a smart thermostat that learns what temperatures we like our home to be set at throughout the day and automatically changes that for us. We can set it in "away" mode and it will use less energy if we are away for the weekend or out for several hours a day (no sense in over air conditioning an empty house!). We can change the temperature from our phones so we can let our Nest know we are on our way home and it's time to cool the house down.
Battery Operated Fans-- We grabbed a couple of these battery operated fans before the beach because we were worried about Liam getting overheated in his beach tent or while we were out for our walks in the stroller. These are compact but can provide quite a breeze when you turn them on full blast! It was nice to be able to hang these from his tent and blast them on him while he was playing. They have been great for attaching to our stroller too!
Google Pixel Phone Charger-- My phone charger died while we were at the beach last month so I had a new one sent to our house for when we got back. Thankfully Devin and I have the same phone so we just shared a charger until we got home. I have a Google Pixel 2 and love it! Anybody else not have an iPhone?

Those are my purchases for the month of July! Can't wait to see what you all bought during Tanya's link up tomorrow!

  1. Love the t shirt and I'm totally checking out the National Parks book! We toured a few at the beginning of the year, and would love to see more!
I'm a Google Pixel girl too! I have the 3xl. I can't imagine another phone now that I've had this one.

    1. I'm planning to update to the 3xl as soon as this one kicks the bucket. But I have to say, this phone is still going strong after 2+ years, so I think I may have it for awhile longer!

  3. Have you talked about your decision to stop teaching? Just with two young kids at home or pandemic related?

I have that tee in blue and LOVE it! We also have the nest - we got it for free through our electric company a couple years ago and love being able to set it on our phones to be a little cooler when we are coming home from work on summer days!

    1. So actually it was the plan all along to stay home once we had two kids, even pre-COVID. It turned out to be a great year to not have to worry about going back!

  7. I saw that top on Ashley's post too and almost bought it- I think now I may have to!I've been trying to talk my friend into getting a Nest now that her central AC needs to be replaced anyway. I love that it's "smart" and learns your fave temps, and that you can control it from your phone!

  9. My husband has had two Google Pixels and both died on him (he's rough on phones, but still). He does not like iPhone lol. He's onto a Samsung something or other and doesn't like it either. He's a flip-phone guy at heart.
I love that shirt with the color-block and the stripes!

  10. I have the shirt in blue and love it. It is very soft and not see through. I bought mine when the country shutdown. Sometimes a gal just needs a new shirt to keep her sanity during a pandemic!
