What's Up Wednesday

Good morning everyone! I know we all say this every month, but where did this month go?!? The month of August flew by! Our September is going to be even busier/crazier so I'm sure I'll be saying the same thing next month. 😂 Grab yourself a cup of coffee and come see what we've been up to!

What We're Eating: We are pretty healthy eaters around here and are usually trying to find some new ways to sneak some veggies in. These broiled sweet peppers were delicious and super easy!

And also this honey sriracha salmon salad we had recently:

What I'm Reminiscing About: Last year at this time I was only a few weeks away from meeting our sweet baby boy!

It is crazy to think that a year ago we didn't even know if he was a boy or a girl. I thought our little family of 3 was already so happy and couldn't imagine how it could get better, but oh man... Liam has brought so much more joy to our lives. And now I have baby fever again and would be pregnant again in a heartbeat! If only Devin was on the same page!

What I'm Loving: The weather has started to cool down around here, which feels earlier than usual? I swear we are normally 90+ degrees regularly around here until mid-September. Anyone else feel like it's been cooling down a little earlier than usual where you live? Anyway, it's making me feel like fall is right around the corner and we might have fall temperatures for more than just a few weeks (which is usually the norm!)

What We've Been Up To: Oh my goodness, what haven't we been up too? We noticed pretty early on during the initial quarantine days that we do much better to stave off a negative/depressed/funky mood if we are keeping busy, so we are always trying to keep busy and not thinking about how much we are missing out on. This past month we went to visit my in laws at the beach:

We went hiking on some of our favorite trails:

We built a greenhouse in our backyard (more info on that soon!):

We went camping in the backyard:

And we've been meeting with our contractor about FINALLY beginning our major home renovation!! I haven't talked about it yet because honestly it needs it's own full blog post, but this is what our future kitchen is going to look like and I. CANT. WAIT!!!!!!!!!

I am planning to do a "before" video home tour as soon as I can so that we are able to see the big difference between how it currently is and what it will look like once updated.

What I'm Dreading: So our renovation is more than just our kitchen... it's a majority of our house. Which means we have to move out for 4 months. Moving can be crazy stressful and I don't love the idea of moving out just to move back again in a few months. Obviously I know it'll all be worth it though!

What I'm Working On: Lily Grace is about to start school soon so I am getting everything set up for her to start school, and I am going through a bunch of stuff to either sell on Facebook Marketplace or donate before the big renovation!

What I'm Excited About: To have a fridge where the ice machine works again 😁

What I'm Watching/Reading: I just read "The Other Mrs." by Mary Kubica and I could NOT put it down!!

Mary Kubica reminds me a lot of Gillian Flynn, but a little less disturbing. She writes the psychological thriller genre very well. If you love a "Gone Girl" type of story, I highly recommend "The Other Mrs.".

What I'm Listening To: Taylor Swift's Folklore on repeat. I'll be honest, it took me a minute to get into Folklore. I think I was expecting typical upbeat/peppy/fun Taylor and this is more slow/deep Taylor. I love "The One", "Exile" and "My Tears Ricochet" the most. Which are your favorites?

What I'm Wearing: I am still mostly wearing exercise clothes but am trying to put on "real clothes" more often. Don't mind the test paint swatches in the background 😉

Peplum shirt (old, but similar here)/Shorts (old but similar here)/Sandals
I saw another blogger I follow post about these sandals being the most comfortable sandals and I am OBSESSED with them! They truly are the most comfortable sandals I own and were shockingly inexpensive. I love the look of them too! I would definitely order a size up though, I initially ordered my regular size and had to exchange them.
Colorblock Shirt/Jean Shorts (old but similar here)/Sandals

Ashley posted this color block shirt last month and I knew I had to have it! I have it in a couple other colors in my cart and am thinking about grabbing them. This shirt is so soft and comfortable.

What I'm Doing This Weekend: It's my dad's birthday-- woohoo! We are headed to the mountains to celebrate with my family. I see lots of hiking trails and playing the woods in our future

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: Liam's first birthday and us beginning renovations! We won't be doing anything big for Liam's birthday, probably just family for dinner/cake and gifts. Here's hoping next year we will be able to have a bigger celebration.

Thanks for reading along today guys! I can't wait to catch up with all of you and see what you've been up to as well. See you back here tomorrow :)

  1. So fun! Your home renovations will be so worth it in the end but I can't imagine moving out temporarily with two kiddos AHH! Hoping it will be over beofre you know it. Totally felt the same way about Folklore and I feel like ice makers never seem to work for more than a couple of years...someone really needs to do something about that lol!

    1. I keep trying to tell myself that too Holley-- it'll be worth it! Good to know I'm not the only one who didn't love Folklore right away. And those dang ice makers! I agree!

  2. Ooohhh -- your home renovations sound fun! Moving out for a few months will be a pain but think how amazing it will all be when it's done. And we're still waiting for some cooler weather here -- maybe this weekend, I hope. It feels like it's been an unusually hot summer here and I am over it.

  3. That new kitchen looks amazing! Renovations aren't always so fun when you're living through them but what a beautiful ending to look forward to.

  8. Oooh I'm excited to see the reno! We had big kitchen/flooring throughout our house plans until Covid hit and my husband doesn't want a bunch of workers in the house with us/our daughter. Can't wait to see what you guys do!
