Life Lately

Good grief! Does anyone else feel like just when you get established in your routine, something throws it off again? We have had a tricky last few weeks and things are already popping up to make this week a little loopy too. When will it all calm down? Luckily nothing has been serious, just crazy busy. Anyway, today I wanted to share a little bit of what we've been up to lately.

We have been doing our best to be outside and enjoying the sunshine as much as possible. The weather is beginning to cool down and we can play without getting super hot and sweaty. We are soaking it up before it starts to get chilly!

We've been having picnics at our favorite picnic spot as often as we can.

LG's teacher sends us pictures from the playground and I have to say, they make my day! I know our girl loves school, but to see her sweet smile while she plays with friends just warms my heart.

We had a visit from my sister and nephew for a few days! You'd think I would've gotten more pictures but honestly I was too busy catching up with my sister. This was the best I got (I think Liam was napping when I snapped this):

Then came the week Devin was in Canada and the kids got Hand Foot and Mouth. I had heard of HF&M before, but our kids had never gotten it. LG didn't get it so bad, but poor Liam was miserable for about 10 days. Our week looked a lot like this:
Obviously you never want your kids to be sick, but the amount of Liam snuggles I got during that 10 day period was a wonderful silver lining to an otherwise bad situation.

We had one day where Liam had school and LG did not, so she and I headed to Walmart with a mission to bring home baking supplies. Have ya'll seen these adorable baking kits??

I thought they were so cute! We ended up getting the Bins cat cookies and these bat cupcakes:

We got to work baking:

And decorating:

I thought they were so cute. Especially the ones LG did with the droopy eyes and teeth 😁 Black icing however may not have been my best choice:

And in typical 2 year old fashion, Liam was upset because I only let the kids have one cupcake, not an unlimited amount. He was making it very clear he wanted more and I was making it very clear they were only getting one.

Luckily he made a full recovery for "make your own pizza night":

As we are getting closer to Halloween, we are making sure the costumes are all ready and in order. Liam is going to be a pirate this year. It was hard to get a picture of him not moving!
And LG is going to be Raya:
They are both so excited and try to wear their costumes daily. I keep telling them to wait until Halloween and then they can wear them whenever they want-- but we don't want anything to happen to them before Halloween!

Anyway, that's what we've been up to lately! Thanks for following along! I hope you all have a great week!

Today I am linking up with Heather for Hello Monday!

  1. I remember HF&M!! I got it too and it was horrible, I had a new level of sympathy for the kids.
Love those costumes and fun Hocus Pocus baking kids, fun!

  3. I worked in a daycare and brought HF&M home for my poor husband the first year we were married (though oddly I had zero symptoms!). He assured me it was awful. So glad everyone is over it and feeling better. Those black cupcake 'stashes are so funny!
