Book Club- November

We are big fans of reading in this family 😍

Today is Book Club day so if you are a big reader like I am, keep on reading and get ready to add some books to your reading list! Please feel free to leave some reading suggestions in the comments below, I am always looking for new books. Of the 3 books I read this month, they were all good, but I would probably only recommend 2 of them. Let's get started, shall we?
1. The Dry by Jane Harper. This book is the book that I really enjoyed, but I'm not sure I would recommend. It was a "who dunnit" kind of book that was a page turner from the beginning, but was honestly a little too depressing for me to recommend. After putting this one down my thoughts were "that was a great book, but I need something happy now". Thank goodness it is Hallmark Christmas movie season 😉

2. My Oxford Year by Jane Whelan. I really enjoyed this book. It took an unexpected turn that took the book in a direction I wouldn't have predicted, but I think it gave the story more depth. This was a sweet look at the importance of love, friendship and family. I would definitely recommend this book.

3. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. This book was recommended to me by 3 separate friends so I figured I had to give it a go. It was a great book for anyone who is trying to do something creative in their life, whether you are wanting to paint in your free time, practice photography, write poetry, or write a blog (ahem, any of you out there??😉). It was a sweet reminder to not be afraid of what other people will think, just go out there and CREATE.

That's a wrap for November. This month I am trying to read holiday/Christmas books to help get me in the spirit. Anyone else doing the same thing??

  1. It was interesting! Elizabeth Gilbert is a little silly in it, she definitely does not take herself too seriously. It was a good reminder that creating something creative can be light-hearted and fun. It doesn't have to be so serious all the time :)

  2. I liked The Dry, and then tried to read her second book. Just couldn't get into it. Thanks for the recommendations. Here's a link to my book posts: Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
