January Goals

It feels a little funny to be just now posting my monthly goals and we are almost halfway through the month, but this month was off to a busy start! If you are new around here I am a big believer in goal setting. I love to set goals for myself each year, and then mini goals each month towards helping me reach my bigger goals. Last week I posted my yearlong goals for 2021, and this week I am sharing some smaller goals for the month of January.

1. Move Back Into Our House- We were supposed to move back home at the end of this week but it's looking like we will have to wait an additional week-- darn! We moved out of our home in the beginning of September in order to do a major gut/renovation. I am so excited to get back into our house and make it feel like a home again. We have slowly started packing everything back up and have it all waiting in boxes by the garage. I am looking forward to the day when I won't be walking past a bunch of boxes in order to get in and out of the house!
2. Read 4 Books- I am a big fan of audiobooks and I am hoping to listen to a few while unpacking boxes and putting things away. I'm listening to one now that I really like but it's kinda slow in parts.. which makes it hard to focus. I keep having to rewind and relisten!
3. Move My Body Daily- I notice such an improvement in myself when I do something physically active each day (bonus if it's outside). I sleep better when I get some physical activity, I am motivated to eat healthier, and my overall mood is more chipper. All the more reason to find a way to move my body every day this month-- even if that only means 15 minutes of crunches while trying to binge watch Call the Midwife 😊
4. Dry(ish) January- Like most people I found myself overindulging during the holidays. I don't mean having too much to drink in one night, but more like having a glass or two of wine 4-5 nights per week. That is much more than I normally do, so I am trying to get back into the habit of only having one glass every once in awhile. I originally was thinking of doing a "Dry January", but then remembered I usually give up wine for Lent and that starts mid-February. One or two glasses in January isn't going to be too detrimental 😉
5. Have All Blog Posts for the Week Done By Sunday- The end of 2020 was a bit of a whirlwind. With the renovation process and the holidays, the days were flying by. By the end of the year I was waiting until the last minute to write blog posts, and I do not like that stressed-out feeling! I can't tell you how many times I said "I have a post to write but I'm soooo tired". I'm hoping by being more organized about it I can knock out the posts I want to write over the weekends, and then focus 100% on my family and being present with them during the week. I truly do love blogging and hope to continue it for years to come-- but not at the expense of being present with my family or my sanity!

So what about you? Do you have any goals set for January? How are they going so far?

  1. I write my blog posts the day before - maybe I should start doing them ahead like you want to! Good luck with your goals.

    1. I used to be able to do the day before easily, but being quarantined with two young kiddos makes that a lot harder!!

  2. During the pandemic if I hadn't written a post in advance, I would just not post, but I didn't love that. So I've tried to be at least a day ahead.

    1. I also hate that feeling of not posting! I love blogging and it's my outlet, so I want to be able to do it.. just not at the expense of spending time with my family.

  5. I need to try to write my posts ahead of time, but I find myself writing them the night before time and time again. I hope the move back home goes smoothly!
