Well hi there friends! I hope you are having a good start to the week so far. Today is our first post for Not Just a Mom 2021, and the topic is getting cozy!
Seeing as it is currently 35 degrees and raining outside as I type this, getting cozy is right up my alley at the moment! In fact, we were supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow here in Charlotte but just ended up with cold rain... is there anything worse than that?? If it's going to be that cold out, it might as well snow so we can have fun with it, right?
Anyway, back in November I read the book The Cozy Life, which is all about the Danish concept of Hygge and I loved it. I wrote a post called Embrace the Hygge, where I talked about some of the ideas they recommended in the book that I try to incorporate into my own life. Long story short, getting cozy is one of my favorite things. I cannot wait wait to read all of your posts about this!
Since I don't want this post to be super redundant and more or less a copy & paste of my November post, I'll give you the quick answer of what I like to do. Then, if you'd like to read more into it, you can read this post here and I strongly recommend the book The Cozy Life for a quick, easy read about all things cozy.
My Favorite Cozy Things:
- a mug of your favorite warm drink
- a good book
- a giant, cozy blanket
- I won't lie, I still use my Snuggie. Do you remember Snuggies? 😂 Such a weird thing, but also genius.
- some kind of soft lighting: fireplace, candles, twinkle lights, lights dimmed, etc.
- slippers or giant cozy socks
Okay, so now it's your turn to share how you get cozy. I am really looking forward to seeing what suggestions you all have 😀 Link up below:
Thanks for reading along today! I hope you all have a great rest of the day!
It's so positive to focus on cozy ways of living in these cold momths!
ReplyDeleteI agree!! It's nice to find the silver lining
DeleteI love to get cozy and warm! I am a fan of all of the ways to get cozy you pointed out! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWe must think alike!
DeleteI hate it when it's cold and it rains. It somehow feels colder than actual snow. And now I wish I could just stay under a blanket all day instead of having to leave the house to go to work!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Cold rain DOES feel colder than snow!
DeleteHadley wanted a Snuggie for Christmas, but my sister-in-law gave her one a few weeks before Christmas--it was one she had but didn't use anymore. It's so funny to see Hadley walking around with her big blanket...but I'm kind of jealous!
ReplyDeleteI love mine!! They are ridiculous, but so cozy!
DeleteI have a snuggie too LOL. Better and cheaper than the oodie that's the cool thing right now!!
ReplyDeleteRight?! My Snuggie works, so why replace it?
DeleteI love all these cozy things and am intrigued to learn about the concept of Hygge!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It's so fascinating to me that countries where it is cold and dark all the time have found a way to embrace it.
DeleteCold and rainy is the worst! I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteI would take snow over cold rain any day!
DeleteIm sorry you didn't get snow. That is the worst. I would rather have snow with the cold everyday. It makes outside look brighter and less dreary.
ReplyDeleteYes! It's much more beautiful to look at than rain, that's for sure!
DeleteI absolutely love all things cozy! Adding The Cozy Life to my to-read list right now. xo
ReplyDeleteYAY! I hope you like it as much as I did!
DeleteI love being COZY! Thanks for that book recommendation. I love that there is a way of life to be cozy...hygee. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's funny to think of cozy as a way of life, but it really is for some people!
DeleteNothing worse than grey and damp! I love those cozy things too.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteI do remember snuggies and I always wanted one! My boys and I often walk around the house with a blanket wrapped around us like another layer of clothing anyway; might as well have arms and be useful.
ReplyDeleteHahaha exactly! Although I do love a good blanket wrapped around me too :)
DeleteLove me some cozy!!! I love getting into bed with a good book, my heating pad turned on High, gray salt lamp on and my Christmas tree with pink and silver ornaments during the winter or my lighted ficus tree year round. Pure Bliss.......:)
ReplyDeleteOh wow those all sound so nice!
