Hi there! I hope you had a nice weekend and your Monday is off to a great start. I realized over the weekend that I haven't done a "Life Lately" post in over 2 months. That is a long time considering we've had the holidays and so much else going on! I decided to split this post into a part 1 and a part 2 because otherwise this post would have 50+ photos... and nobody has time for that! Today is going to be a random dump of photos from my phone from mid November- mid December. Then on Wednesday I will share the rest! Grab yourself a cup of coffee and come see what we've been up to lately:
In mid November Devin finally agreed to let me put up the Christmas decorations. If it had been solely up to me, we would've had those decorations up on November 1st! Devin is very much one of those "no Christmas before Thanksgiving" people. I was lucky enough to have Snow White help me decorate. 😊
We decided to keep the outside decorations simple this year since we weren't at our regular house. An inflatable Santa and some light up presents was just enough for us. It took all of 10 minutes to set up and still made a nice impact. Perfect!
We were lucky enough to have some beautiful weather throughout November and tried to spend as much time outside as possible. On this day we went to one of our favorite parks nearby and Lily Grace ran the bases at the baseball field. This girl just goes and goes and goes! I love it because it usually makes for a good afternoon nap 😉
Liam on the other hand did not want to get up and run... he just wanted to keep pulling his socks and shoes off over and over and over again. He thought he was hilarious and was cracking himself up.
Then our big guy got his first ever haircut!! We were way overdue on this, but due to COVID I kept pushing it off. I kept saying, "oh well does he really need one?? It's not like we go anywhere anyway?" Finally we decided it was time to get rid of the mullet he had growing in the back.
The poor guy did NOT like getting his hair cut. He cried and cried. Luckily I had a pacifier in my purse and that seemed to help soothe and calm him down.
Now he's looking sharp!
After his haircut we decided to have a picnic lunch in downtown Matthews. We packed some food and toys and let the kids play on the turf area at one of the restaurants. We were the only ones there and it was nice to have the place to ourselves so the kids could play.
My t-shirt and medal for the Virtual Turkey Trot arrived just in time for Thanksgiving weekend and the virtual race:
Lily Grace loved wearing my medal and told me she was going to run the race with me too. It made me so happy to think that one day maybe we will run races together!
Then it was time for Thanksgiving! We headed up to Blowing Rock to spend the holiday with my parents. One of my sisters came too. It was so nice to be able to spend time relaxing. It was also nice to have several extra sets of hands with the kiddos!
My mom loves to do arts and crafts (I must get that from her). Lily Grace wanted bring her Pocahontas costume with us to the mountains and wear it, so my mom decided Pocahontas needed a canoe. She pulled out an old cardboard box, and the two of them got to turning it into a canoe.
Here's the finished canoe:
Apparently it doubles as a nice, cozy reading nook. 😊
My mom stumbled across
this Disney craft book at the local library and she and Lily Grace flipped through the pages to pick out a craft to do together. They decided on Rapunzel's braid and got to work.
Isn't it cute? Apparently it's supposed to be a hair bow/hair clip holder.
Then it was time for me to run at virtual turkey trot. My family all came to the park and while I was running the trails, this guy got to live his best life on the swings:
And this girl made her own bow and arrow out of twigs and grass:
They met me at my "finish line"
After Thanksgiving we came home, and really buckled down with staying at home again. Numbers in our area (and really everywhere) were shooting up so we spent our time at the house, or going to check on the progress of our renovation. Here is how our kitchen looked as of December 11th:
And our days at home looked a lot like this:
Playing dress up as every character/princess possible. This day she was Snow White, complete with poison apple and her animal friends.
And this picture sums up our sweet Liam so well. Happy and always trying to be silly and make us laugh. Even if that means by putting food in his hair.
Whew! And that was only 1 month worth of pictures! See why I decided to break it up into two posts??
I hope you all have a wonderful day! See you back here on Wednesday.
I love your Christmas decorations! Liam is so cute with his new haircut! I hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Abby! I hope you had a great day too :)
DeleteI was surprised that my boyfriend let us put our Christmas tree up on November 1st this past year. Your outside decor was very cute! xo
ReplyDeleteThere was no reason not to put it up early this year! And thanks, it took 10 minutes but made such a big impact-- perfect for this season of life we are in!
DeleteMy little one needs his “ first” haircut but I’ve been avoiding it. I love your kitchen update and cant wait to see it finished. It’s going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe kept putting off that first cut too! It's crazy how quickly it has grown-- he is already almost ready for another cut!
DeleteSnow White is the perfect tree helper! Such wonderful memories of the month. All of my boys got their first haircut when they were super young having been born with a full head of hair but luckily they all seemed perfectly find with the process.
ReplyDeleteOh that's lucky!! I'm hoping the next time around he will be somewhat familiar with the place/routine and be less scared.
DeleteOh my goodness, Liam looks SO handsome with that haircut!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I think it's just too cute :)
DeleteSnow White is my favorite princess. Liam looks so cute with his new haircut.
ReplyDeleteLG loves Snow White so much and keeps making Liam pretend to be her dwarves-- hah!
DeleteYour kids are just so cute and remind me of mine when they were that age. Don't little boys grow up before your eyes with that first haircut? Your kitchen looks INCREDIBLE! Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
ReplyDeleteAww Tanya that's so sweet! Your children are so wonderful, it makes me happy to think mine remind you of yours :)
