What's Up Wednesday

Hello hello and happy What's Up Wednesday! I am happy to see the end of this month because we know what a fun weekend we all have in store. Lily Grace started talking about Halloween back in JUNE and needless to say, we are all excited the big day is finally (almost) here! Today I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday. I can't wait to read what you've all written too!

What We're Eating: We are mostly sticking with the whole plant-based thing, with the occasional meat/cheese meal once in awhile. While Devin and I both definitely feel better when we are eating a whole foods plant-based diet, the recipes are all starting to taste kind of similar (you called it Sarah!! You were right!). This week for a non plant-based meal we had Shay's Beefy Mac. It has been a favorite around here for years!

I'm hoping since the weather is cooling down we can do more soups-- which will be great for a variety of reasons!

What I'm Reminiscing About: We got our fall family pictures taken over the weekend and already got them back. I love getting annual pictures because it helps to see how much we all grow and change each year!! I'm reminiscing about last year's pictures:

And 2018:

We didn't get any pictures in 2019 because I had just had Liam and that fall it felt like LG was sick every other week. I am happy we have the other years to look back on though!

What I'm Loving: The trees are starting to change around here! We have seen some beautiful reds, yellows and oranges. I never appreciated this time of year when I was teaching because I was always so busy, but now as a SAHM I am soaking up all the beautiful things fall has to offer!

What We've Been Up To: We just went to the pumpkin patch with some friends over the weekend and had a great time.

This place is one of our favorites and has a bunch of old-school toys and playground equipment for the kids to play on. It also has two mazes, a hay ride, a little train, and more. You can read more about that here on Monday's post.

I've also been subbing quite a bit at my old school. Subbing is the best of both worlds: I get to go back and see the people I love, but I also don't have any papers to grade/emails to write/lessons to plan. It's the fun without the really hard work :)

What I'm Excited About: My whole family will be able to get together for Thanksgiving this year, which feels like the first time in awhile! There will be 10 of us together for Thanksgiving and I am really looking forward to all the good quality family time. I am especially looking forward to the kids getting to have some cousin play time.

What I'm Watching/Reading: I am currently reading The Last Thing He Told Me and really like it so far! As for watching, we are speeding through Ted Lasso and it is adorable :)

It's a perfect quick 30-ish minute show that is heartwarming and will make you laugh.

What I'm Listening To: I have a worship playlist I listen to when I run that's filled with Elevation Worship, Hillsong, Kari Jobe, Tauren Wells, etc. Lately at night I've been putting Dev in charge of the kids, putting on my noise cancelling headphones, and listening to that playlist while I power clean. Why noise cancelling headphones? Because sometimes it's good to not know what they're getting into, especially when dad is in charge. 😉

What I'm Wearing: I'm trying to wear some transitional outfits that'll work for the crisp fall mornings but warm fall afternoons. Here are a few outfits I've been wearing lately:

Green pants/white shirt (old from J Crew)/ Denim Jacket

Black Dress/Boots

What I'm Doing This Weekend: It's Halloween! I'm probably doing a lot of the same things you will be doing! We have a Halloween family costume party Saturday afternoon, a Halloween costume parade Saturday night, and apparently we are trick or treating both nights in our neighborhood. The kids have the day off school on Monday and I think it's for the best-- we will all be beat!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: My girls trip to Chicago is the first weekend in November and I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Thanks for reading along today! I hope you have a great day!

  1. Eek, a girls trip!! I love it. I hope you get some Chicago Mix popcorn while you're there, so addictive! Recommend Cindy's Rooftop at the Chicago Athletic Association for brunch or cocktails.

  3. That's a great idea to give kids the day off school after Hallowe'en! They will be exhausted! And thanks for the reminder that we need to schedule our fall family photos. (And the haircuts beforehand! Hahaha!)
