What's In My Bag

Good morning everyone! When Shay and Erika cancelled this link up a month ago I was so bummed because I was really looking forward to looking into other people's bags. I'm so nosy and love to know random little tidbits like this. I know I'm not the only one out there and all of you are interested in this too... otherwise you wouldn't still be reading, would you??

Now, a little forewarning here... this is just my purse. Not my "mom bag" or diaper bag. That is a whole other beast and would be worthy of it's own post (if you're interested, maybe I could do that next week?). I also cleaned my purse out before this post, but normally my purse has everything you're about to see, plus about 20 receipts/shopping lists/other lists/etc. I clean it out every few weeks when it gets embarrasingly bad, and apparently today was the day for that!

So without further ado, here's a look at what's in my bag đŸ˜€

Devin bought me this bag for my birthday last year and I absolutely love it. It's the perfect size to fit everything I need without being too big/getting too heavy. I also love the beige color because it goes with everything.
This is what it would look like at a quick glance if you peeked inside. I don't normally keep a giant container of Lysol wipes in my purse, but I do now! If I have to go to the grocery store or out anywhere, I always pull one out and wipe down anything I'm about to touch.
Yes, I know they make travel size packages of Lysol wipes, but this was what we had at home and I didn't want to go get some from the store if other people were needing them.
This I have always kept in my purse but has definitely come in handy lately.. my tissue/hand sanitizer/Purell wipes/Shout wipes/ etc. baggie.
It's easy to just pull out the baggie without having to search through my purse for these things. Because we all know that when you need a tissue, you need one ASAP! You don't want to be searching around in your bag for it.
Here are my wallet, sunglasses case, car keys and school keys. The big pink ribbon was attached to a keychain a friend gave me years ago and helps me to quickly find my keys in my bag since it stands out.
I always keep a coozie in there, since you never know when you'll want one. I also keep our checkbook in there, which a lot of my friends make fun of me for being an "old lady" but you'd be surprised how often I use it!! Walking out of church and some Girl Scout's are selling cookies but I don't have cash?? Good thing I have my checkbook đŸ˜‰ And yes, I know Wachovia is no longer a bank and hasn't been one for 12 years, but the checkbook case is still in good shape so I use it!
Inside one of my zippered side pockets I always keep several pens, chapsticks, a mini notebook (that gets used a LOT!), and a travel size deodorant. I'm embarrassed to admit how often I forget to put on deodorant before I leave the house, which is why I always keep travel sizes with me in my purse/gym bag/work bag/etc.
This gift card holder is another thing that has come in handy over the past several years! When Devin and I got married, someone gave us a Bed, Bath and Beyond gift card in this holder. I HATE going through my wallet searching for gift cards, and as a teacher, I get a LOT of gift cards. But really, does anyone else feel like you have a zillion cards in your wallet already?? Between driver's license, credit cards, debit card, Costco card, library card, and a million others... I don't want my gift cards in there too. I wanted a place where I could keep them all together and organized. This little gift card tin is still going strong after 7+ years of having it. I have to tie it together with a hair tie because it is overstuffed with gift cards (we teachers get a lot of gift cards!). I put it in my side pocket of my purse and then it's easy to pull out a gift card when I'm at Starbucks/Target/whereever.
One last glance inside the purse once everything has been put back in!

I can't wait to see what you all have in your bags too!

  5. I'm kind of surprised you can even find any places that still take checks! LOL. I only grab mine when we're heading to the Dentist's office.

  6. I LOVE the idea of keeping the little tin for gift cards/store cards. These always get lost in my purse and are so bulky in my wallet. The Wachovia checkbook was a throwback for me and made me laugh out loud. I used to bank at Wachovia, so that made me smile! I am also an old lady-ish and always carry my checkbook. I get a thrill out of writing checks. #crazyiknow Have a wonderful day!

    1. Haha if you're crazy, then I am too! Devin makes fun of me because I also enjoy writing checks. Happy to know I'm not the only quirky one :)

  7. Do you switch purses at all (like to a crossbody for certain outings) or do you normally use the same bag.

    1. Oh yeah, I totally switch out. I love to switch out my bags for a night out and usually go for a clutch style then. When traveling I always use a cross body. I also switch out my big bag a few times a year.
